Current Responsibility: Responsible for the entire Production (Float & Reflective),
Maintenance, Engineering, Purchasing, Technical Services, Ware House & Shipping
functions of the Manufacturing
Reporting: To the Executive General Manager, Africa Middle east
Responsibility: Responsible for the entire Operations of the Manufacturing facility of Ras
Al Khaimah, UAE which has a Float & Coater including the Administration function of the
Plant. Key Areas are Compliance related to local law & Regulations, People & Process
Safety, Achieving the Business Plan.
Achievements:
Starting of Float Plant with only Backups like LPG, Diesel Power Generators and Water
Tankers as the Service providers for Natural Gas, Electricity and Water are not ready
which will delay the plant start-up by 6 months.
Increased the furnace designed capacity from 650 MT to 735 MT due to higher demand.
Various Energy Savings projects
• Using Ceramic K- Wool to insulate the Furnace crown
• Using Ceramic K-wool as an extra insulation between bottom blocks and
insulation pads.
• Using Insulation boards on the Refiner Breast walls
• Working on the batch blankets by increasing the Charger angles and making
batch blanket thinner.
• Increasing the Combustion Air Temperature by increasing the Suction duct
height.
Optimized the Sand sizing with the Sand suppliers on 425 microns from 16% to 6%
Worked on the Salt cake suppliers to reduce the fine % -106 micron from 15% to 10%.
Reduced the Na20 from 14.2% to 13.6% in Glass which resulted in the Soda Ash
Reduction.
First Guardian Plant to import Bulk Soda Ash directly from Suppliers by ourselves
handling from unloading from ship to onsite storage. This gave us lower cost and
multiple supplier options.
Implementation of Process Capability Controls to reduce the process Variations.
Transitioning from Clear Glass to Green Glass and back to Clear Glass.
Reducing probability of Nickel Contamination by using Hand held XRF to survey the
presence of SS in the Batching and Conveying systems.
Oxy lancing and Oxy boosting Project to increase the Furnace Life due to Checker
Damage.
Developing local supplier for Dolomite as all raw materials were imported from Saudi
Arabia.
Handled several emergency situations of Natural Gas Outage, Electricity Outage, Process
Emergency and Raw material supply issues.
