Vice President Corporate Affairs at Hassad Food
  • Qatar - Doha
  • November 2008 to December 2018

Hassad Food Company
Main Responsibilities - Directing human resources, purchasing, legal, administration and information technology functions. I also directed finance from 2009 to 2012 and corporate comms from 2015 to 2017.
Hassad Food was established in 2008 with a vision to becoming a major global food brand. We operate and own major shareholdings in several countries.

I actively participated in the development of our corporate strategy alongside the rest of the senior management team. The strategy covered several HR related dimensions, including organizational strategy and performance management.

I led the organizational development of Hassad group since its inception starting with the organizational structuring of the corporate entity then the development of the domestic and international subsidiaries. I have actively participated in the structuring of our Australian subsidiary alongside our business development and legal teams to ensure that the entity is not only ready for business but also compliant with various Australian financial, regulatory and legal requirements.

Hassad Food did not have a CEO for the first five years of its life so I have advised the board of directors on key corporate issues especially involving human resources strategy. I also led the recruitment of the company’s middle and senior management team members. I strongly believe that senior managers, in particular, should be strategic leaders, strong communicators and team players.

I led the development of the first and second versions of our human resources policy which went into effect in 2009 and 2014 respectively. I made sure that the policy is aligned with corporate strategy, well-balanced between the rights of the employee and the company, realistic compared to the job market, and compliant with legal and regulatory frameworks.

Believing in the importance of strategy in corporate development I spearheaded the development of our performance management system which links employee objectives to strategic objectives.

My technology background helped me to realize opportunities in technology to improve the workplace. In fact all of HR services are online for all of our employees to access anywhere, around the clock.

I strongly believe that people are the key to corporate success and therefore the workplace should foster a family spirit, stimulate learning and innovation, and strike a good balance between work and life.
