Job Description:
• Providing care for patients suffering from trauma or other illnesses that require emergency attention.
• Recognize and treat life-threatening conditions, with the ability to deploy rapid assessment and treatment of patients in critical situations during the initial phase of acute illness and trauma, where every second is essential.
• Assisted in the care of multiple traumas, cardiac arrests, stroke codes, sexual assaults, and conscious sedation.
• Prioritize care based on the critical nature and severity of a patient’s condition.
• Independently maintained safe and effective care to patients with different acuity levels in a time-restricted and demanding environment
• Demonstrate exemplary documentation skills by accurately maintaining nurses' notes and promoting sufficient communication among care staff.
• Communicated continuously and collaborated with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care was given to patients promptly.
• Merged empathy and strong interpersonal skills by providing both the physical and emotional needs of patients and families were maintained.
• Attends and participates in the regular department meetings and in the education activity which improves the department.

• Performs emergency medical technician duties at their level of certification and consistent with Saudi Arabian EMS Protocols and Patient Care Protocol that include but are not limited to:
• Opening and maintaining airway
• Ventilating patient.
• Administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including the use of automated external defibrillators.
• Providing pre-hospital emergency medical care of simple multiple systems such as:
1. Controlling hemorrhage
2. Treatment of shock (hypoperfusion)
3. Bandaging wounds
4. Immobilizing of painful, swollen or deformed extremities
5. Immobilizing of a painful, swollen or deformed neck or spine.
6. Providing emergency medical to:
7. Assist in emergency childbirth
• Manage general medical complaints of altered mental status, respiratory, cardiac, diabetic, allergic reaction, seizures, behavioral poisoning emergencies, environmental emergencies, and psychological crises. Additional care is provided based upon an assessment of the patient and obtaining historical information.
• Assisting the patient with prescribed medications, including sublingual nitroglycerin, epinephrine auto-injectors, and handheld aerosol inhalers
• Administering of oxygen, oral glucose and activated charcoal
• Reassuring patients and bystander by working in a confident, efficient manner
• Avoiding mishandling and undue haste while working expeditiously to accomplish the task
• Continuing emergency medical care while en route to the medical facility if accompanying the ambulance. Continually assessing the patient en route to the emergency facility
• Administering additional care as indicated or directed by medical control
• Reports verbally and in writing, their observation and emergency medical care of the patient at the emergency scene and in transit to the receiving medical facility staff for records and diagnostics
• Maintains competence in hazardous materials awareness (Hazardous Materials Operation) Blood is borne Pathogen Exposure Control, CPR/AED and other required competencies.

Preoperative Duties of PACU Nurse
• Manage patients’ admission processes to preoperative department in a hospital
• Assess the status of patients’ health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of identification wristband
• Ensure that operative and informed consents are in order
• Determine the surgeon and procedure being carried out
• Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
• Initiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure and attending medical staff
Postoperative Duties of PACU Nurse
• Assess patients’ condition after a surgery has been performed
• Ensure that all vitals are within normal range
• Log all findings in patients’ files
• Answer patients’ questions and ensure that they are kept comfortable
• Make sure that all relevant IV’s are in check
• Develop individualized care plans based on each individual patient’s condition
• Ensure that the all nursing activities are carried out in accordance to individual patient care plan
• Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctor
• Initiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medications
• Determine when patients are ready to be moved to their rooms
• Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies
• Record sedation levels and body temperature
• Manage blood and fluid transfusions and draw specimens
• Ensure that the post-operative space is clean and sanitized
• Change bandages and dress surgical wounds
