. The job entailed the management of all the solid,
hematological and pediatric malignancies using radiation
and chemotherapy. The department has a linear
accelerator, a Co60 machine, simulator, LDR brachytherapy
for interstitial and intracavitary applications, nuclear
medicine unit, out patients clinics, chemotherapy
preparation & administration rooms and the inpatients
department (19 beds). My job used to begin from
reviewing new cases, follow up regular cases, ordering
chemotherapy, assessing & managing its side effect,
planning patients for radiation therapy & following them up
during treatment course, consulting senior staff for the
treatment plans, critical cases & participating actively
in the multidisciplinary meetings. I was also actively
involved in the outpatient clinics, reviewing all categories of
patients including patients under supportive care.
•Very important part of my job was to do the bedside care
for the admitted patients. Variety of cases I looked after e.g.
all Oncologic emergencies, managing cancer treatment
complications, palliating active & end stage cases.
