. FNA Skills
I. To assist the Radiologist during ultrasound and CT guided FNA procedures of internal body
organs, preparation of slides (fixed and Air dry) from aspirated material and immediate staining
of air dried slides by Diff quick- Rapi Stain method to ascertain adequacy (Onsite evaluation) by
consultant pathologist and Pap staining for detailed morphology of cells for further
categorization & classification of different types of tumors.
II. To assist the Gastroenterologist during fluoroscopic(e.g. CBD. Brushing) and endoscopic
guided FNA procedures of internal body organs, preparation of slides (fixed and Air dry) from
aspirated material and immediate staining of air dried slides Diff quick- Rapi Stain Stain method
to ascertain adequacy(Onsite evaluation) by consultant pathologist and Pap staining for detailed
morphology of cells for further categorization & classification of different types of tumors.
III. To assist the pathologist during FNA procedure of palpable body organs like thyroid, cervical
lymph node, breast, axilla, inguinal lymph node and skin nodules etc. Preparation of slides(fixed
and air dried)from aspirated material and immediate staining of air dried slides by Diff quick-
Rapi Stain method to ascertain adequacy by consultant pathologist.
IV. To assist the Pulmonologist during trans bronchial needle aspiration(TBNA) and Endo
bronchial ultrasound Guided FNA(EBUS), bronchoscopic procedures, preparation of slides,
from bronchial brushed specimen, fixation in 95% Ethanol and staining by Pap Stain Method.
4.Semen Analysis.
Gross examination, microscopy of wet preparation for assessment of motility of spermatozoa,
dilution of specimen, counting of spermatozoa and microscopy of stained slides for detailed
morphology of spermatozoa.
5. Reporting
Preliminary Reporting of above stated cytology specimen.
