General description of my duties
• SOLARS CENTAUR 40 & RUSTONS TB5000 gas turbines (POWER GENERATION). Involved in the followings:
Daily checks, start up sequence monitoring including fault finding and troubleshooting, power turbines synchronous, 2000 hr service, 4000 hr service, speed and backup speed monitor checks and calibration, level & pressure switches and transmitters checks and calibration, governor calibration, liquid fuel control valve checks and/or calibration, electro hydraulic servo actuator calibration, throttle valve maintaining, vibration monitor (Bently Nevada) checking and calibrating, load shedding, load sharing involvement.
• Gas Heater: flame status and feeding gas stability monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Fire alarm systems & fire extinguishing:
This part includes many types of fire alarm and extinguishing system.
-The main and the important one that I have directly involved in routine checking and troubleshooting is power turbine water mist fire suppression and gas detection system from ANGUS, this uses flame (UVIR) & heat detectors from Drager.
-FM 200 fire alarm & extinguishing system located in the switchgear room from ANGUS.
-TM0054 Firebeta Extinguishing Control Panel (ECP) system from KIDDE.
-CR 4000 gas monitoring and detection system from BW technologies.
-RIG RAT wireless gas detection system.
However, in the above section the most activities are done as the following: daily checks, routine checks, system tests, fault finding and troubleshooting including replacing any electronic or mechanical part.
• SandBed Filters: A bunch of solenoid valves are controlled by Allen Bradley SLC 500 with digital inputs and outputs. The system was designed to backwash the filters automatically, I most check inputs and outputs devices, and/or uploading or downloading the operating LADER diagram.
• Material & spare parts ordering and purchasing.
• Helping the warehouse staff in recognition and determining new spare parts when they arrive.
• A biennial meter proving: In this part a foreign company checks and calibrates the main oil meters. Our duty is to help and witness the procedure.

Since I was employed in the company my skills and knowledge were diversely developed and improved. Working in Instrumentation and control shop has kind of fun and pleasure besides gaining considerably excellent experience as I was directly assigned for the followings:
• Oil process includes; daily plant checks, gauges calibration, meter proving, flare ignition failure checking and repairing, Pneumatic controller adjustment, repairing and calibrating, Control valves checking installing and calibrating.
• Level, temperature, pressure gauges, switches and transmitters checking and/or calibrating. Logic, electronic and Pneumatic controllers involvement. Regarding the logic controllers I just uploading or downloading data to/from the hardware and/or rarely designing.
• Water plant Reverse Osmosis (RO): Including daily checks, gravel filters backwash, membrane backwash, fault finding, PH & TDS controllers & probes checks and/or calibration.
• Plant air compressors: Checks, calibrate or replace all the parts of the control system.
