I currently advice High Net worth Qatari clients on Family Office restructuring. My current projects involve operational optimization of third-party logistics, outsourced manpower services and heavy transport business for two prominent Family Offices.
• Consultant Head of Finance - I am restructuring a QAR 1.1 billion Real Estate portfolio for a Royal Family member. This involves renegotiating bank debt mandates with two national banks, while setting up a financial planning and analysis division to complement the Family Office Finance team. I report into the Owner-Chairman, and the Group CEO.
• Consultant CFO - I am advising a Strategic Logistics Shareholder’s QAR 130 million debt restructuring initiative including Project Financing Facilities, and a significant term loan. I report to the Owner-CEO.
Family Office
Group Head of Finance :
I am Group Head of Finance at a Family Office with significant Qatar based operations in Cargo, fashion, real estate, facilities management, investment, tourism, and distribution. My current responsibilities include:
• Execute the long-term business plans and financial planning for 25 entities part of the Group, spread across Cargo, real estate, facilities management, investment, tourism, B2B distribution and fashion retail.
• Provide strategic recommendations to the Owners, COO, and members of the executive management team on new business proposals, feasibility studies, and exit / entry timelines.
• Providing leadership, direction and management to the Finance, IT, and Procurement Team.
• Responsible for full scope of financials including P&Ls, balance sheet reviews, cash flow forecasts, forecast of EBIDTA performance of 25 entities.
• Commercial oversight for risk management, insurance, funded and non-funded bank facilities. Engage with CBQ for multi-million QAR facility’s annual renewal. Assess and deploy facility funded and non-funded facilities towards commercial actions at the group.
• Manage the processes for financial forecasting, annual budgets and oversee the preparation of all financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
• Establish and develop relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders.
• Perform due diligence for M&A including legal and finance reviews.
• Reviewing Finance, HR, and IT related procedures.
• Manage and oversee a team of 16 professionals, including Finance, IT, and Procurement.
• Achievements:
- Prepared an Investment Tracker to track investment movements for equity holdings, on a Dashboard along with support from IT- because of which we exited successful investments on time with 100% alpha.
- Renegotiated real estate Ijara Loan Structure with a Qatari Bank to improve the cash flow and reduced the prepayment penalties to 0 % in exchange for a new banking facility for LC.
- Deployed Microsoft Dynamics 365 Cloud ERP for Finance, Inventory, Procurement, and Retail across the company.
I am Group CFO at the logistics integrator, PSL Global, and manage Qatar operations and subsidiaries in the Middle East and USA. I am currently focused on balance sheet reengineering, debt restructuring, and project management of 4PL projects. I am currently responsible for:
• Monthly IFRS based financials including P&L, balance sheet reviews, cash flow forecasts, 6 & 12 month forward forecast of financial performance, look-ahead forecasts for contract risks, and material AP-AR mismatches.
• Cash management of multi-million USD/ GBP, import dependent AP & quasi-sovereign owed AR for optimizing NWC.
• Commercial oversight on all ongoing risk management, insurance coverage, funded and non-funded bank facilities.
• Financial analysis and planning of project financial dynamics, including cost recovery of allocable G&A, and other relevant costs.
• Capital raise for Qatar based group-entities through cash infusion and balance sheet restructuring, including one startup seeking private fundraising.
• Conduct due-diligence for the acquisition of entities, including legal, finance and accounting review.
• Engage with Banks for multi-million QAR facility renewal. Assess and deploy facility funded and non-funded profile to match 5-year growth plans of the group.
• Manage and oversee a team of ten professionals, including procurement and contracts.
Finance Consultant
GreenGulf: February 2017 - to January 2018
I was consultant at GreenGulf. At GreenGulf I managed project closeout of the entity’s solar projects including discharge of financial liabilities, collection and management of state-owed AR, payments to foreign and local vendors, and legal closeout of contracts and commercial flow-through assurance of maintenance commitments to third party vendors.
Coordination of Government funded projects, with responsibilities encompassing end to end management of agreements, review of US GAAP compliant financials, perform FP&A using SAP BI suite, conduct annual reporting and assist with internal, external & state audit requests. Member of the Employee Recognition Working Group.
Project management of revolving USD ~30M projects involving agreements with government entities.
Liaise with General Counsel for executing agreements- assist with all internal queries during the annual negotiation cycle.
Responsible for procurement oversight and full material/ service procurement on SAP-MM in conjunction with order-fulfillment by Procurement. Assess and accrue state assessed duties and customs on overseas procurement. SME for Asset disposal and reporting.
Review of US GAAP compliant financials and prepare/ disburse relevant budget recommendations for optimum utilization of budget/ burn-rate targets. Process post-review JVs to address adjustments/ corrections.
Perform monthly reconciliations for inter-company accounts. Reconcile clearing accounts for FP&A charge-back & post charge-back JVs.
Review sub-contractor billing statements and perform reconciliations, seek remediation for reconciling items. Perform cash application duties when required.
Perform HR projections of FTEs to identify personnel-budget related actions including reassignment recommendations, mob-demob recommendations, benefits assessments and manpower FTE planning.
Achievements:
*Constructed Excel Macro for monthly FP&A charge-back, for ready import into SAP FICO \[saved 60 hours annually\]
*Developed a Contract tracker for quick /ready reference of prior agreed-upon terms and conditions, which led to reduced turnaround time during negotiations.
Responsible for the Commercial Functions of an Engineering Joint Venture Project. Responsible for the execution of the Joint Operating Agreements between the JV Partners.
Responsible for Corporate Month-End including Bank reconciliations, Joint venture general ledger accounts and follow-up on reconciling items for resolution & closeout.
Lead the Completion of Consolidated financial statements, notes to the financial statements in accordance with IFRS Accounting Standards.
Responsible for Management Accounting and associated analysis and commentary on a monthly basis for Joint Board reporting.
