Updating System OBP, Firmware/FCODE, PROM of IBM, Redhat Linux, and SUN Servers, system boards, Disks, HBAs, Storage, SAN Switches, tape libraries
Installation, upgrade and system administration of IBM AIX, REDHAT, Sun Solaris 9, 10 Installation, upgrade, maintenance and trouble-shooting all sun Servers, SAN Storage arrays, SAN switches, Tape Libraries, Enterprise Net backup, TSM, VERITAS, REDHAT Clusters & HACMP

Monitoring tool implementation (Nagios)

Roles and Responsibilities:
From ITS AG Flexipool, Offshore Support to Leading US Based Client with US IBM Co-ordination as in Front Support Follow. Supporting as L3 and taking care of AIX system Administration, New build / configurations, HACMP setup and configurations, VIO setup, LPM Activity, Hardware design, OS Migration and Upgrade, Creation and Maintenance of NIM server and deploying security standards.
• New Server Build (p6and p7 Series), Creation of LPAR, AIX installation (5.3, TL12/6.1).
• OS Migration and TL upgrades.
• VIO and client setup as per project requirement.
• New HA setup and configuration with disk heart beat.HACMP administration and support activities such as Adding new RG to existing Cluster(online), removing the RG from existing cluster (online), Change of Service IP label, Modification of the application server and monitoring scripts, adding and removing the disks, RG movements and freeze application monitoring, start, stop cluster services
• Handling of Run queue Tickets.
• Process: Incident management, Problem management (and RCA), Change Management
• Able to perform operating system installation and upgrade installation on the AIX & HP-UX server
• Installation of OS fixes, updating the maintenance levels, & Patch Upgrade as and when required for AIX servers
• Software Installation and Maintenance
• Decommissioning of HP-UX servers & AIX servers
• Commissioning of new HP-UX AND AIX servers
• Troubleshooting the UNIX alerts in our monitoring tool servers for system conditions and network connectivity like CPU utilization, disk space utilization and fixing the issue to the appropriate queues
• Managing user Accounts Administration on servers
• Administer all kind of File system issues such as increasing and decreasing of File system Size as when necessary
• Able to work on all kind of Performance Monitoring issues on the server using VMSTAT, IOSTAT, and TOP etc.
• Taking Performance report as and when required by Onsite Persons
• Backup and Restore using TSM server Administration
• Worked with lots of monthly activities like Failover over Node Testing for the Application Teams
• Prepared lots of documentation for our Environment for the cross training purposes.
ADDITIONALLY ACTING AS A BACKUP FOR TSM RESOURCE
• Check the Backup status of Windows and Unix servers
• Re-Run the backup for UNIX servers, if missed or failed
• Monitor the TSM Database log utilization
• Monitor the TSM administrative schedules
• Check the TSM DB backup status
• Monitor the storage pool utilization
• Monitor the available scratch tapes status in Library
• Check for any tapes that have been marked unavailable
• Monitor drive paths and drives status to make sure they are online
• Sending the Daily TSM Report
• Operating system installation and maintenance of AIX servers.
• Backup and restoration
• Performance monitoring through VMSTAT, NETSTAT, IOSTAT.
• Installation and connectivity of terminals at various locations with unix servers
• Installing, configuring and administering AIX Ver 4.3.3 / 5.2 on RS 6000 Midrange P615/630 Series servers.
• User Administration
• Adding new packages and applications when required by the developer.
• Creating file systems.
• Checking for error report on servers
• Creating user, groups, home directories
• Exporting volume groups from one node to other and adding new disk to volume group.
