Direct Service Provision: Conduct a risk assessment for clients accessing counselling service and ensure appropriate follow-up mechanisms. Work closely within a multi-disciplinary team to holistically address the needs of each client. Provide individual counselling sessions to children, youth, and families/caregivers, as well as provide guidance and strategies to reduce risk and promote wellbeing. Consider the importance of family dynamics on counselling and where possible engage the family in counselling sessions. Provide counselling with the aim to improve the social and emotional functioning of children and their families, maximizing overall community well-being. Monitor ongoing care plan implementation in relation to a child's counselling needs, with special attention to identifying risk issues and communicating these issues to the allocated Child Protection Case Manager Conduct caregiver/parenting skills training where appropriate. Evaluate client satisfaction and appropriateness of care provided. Develop therapeutic processes and support clients to define goals and develop a clear and realistic action plan. Approach clients from a holistic and multi-disciplinary perspective. Link clients with appropriate services to support their holistic wellbeing. Work sensitively with a variety of populations including persons experiencing high levels of distress, persons experiencing anger management difficulties, and members of the LGBTIQA community. Conduct awareness activities and engage with the wider community on promoting emotional wellbeing and positive mental health.

Support of other staff: Where relevant, assist the case management teams in initiating and reviewing care plans for individual children, with participation from the child and family, helping clients to define goals, plan action and gain insight. Provide trainings to case management staff as requested on good communications skills, identification and referral to counselling services, Psychological First Aid, and any other topics as needed.
Support case managers to develop client-centered goals. Engage in client case conferencing on a regular basis.

Documentation: Provide regular updates and reports to senior management staff as required; contribute to donor reports and internal IMC reports as required. Contribute to proposals and report writing as needed / requested. Contribute to the development of the care plan, specifically the development of client-centered goals in the care plan. Contribute to the case management file, including assessments, counselling plans and individual client progress Ensure client documentation in the files are up to date and entered promptly upon completion of each session. Ensure safety concerns are adequately documented and appropriately managed. Ensuring Quality: Engage in regular supervisory meetings Remain up to date with best practices in counselling techniques Ensure an evidence-based practice Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor. Coordination: Represent IMC at coordination meetings and through meetings with stakeholders as needed Advocate for the importance of counselling services, comprehensive case management and child rights
Provide training to other organisations of child protection, identification and referral of cases, and best practices.

From 26.5.2014 Organize the development of initial care plan with focus on any Immediate safety concerns.
• Monitor on-going care plan development with special attention to safety Issues and stabilizing the family from the effects of domestic violence.
• Establish long-term goals in case planning, which can include family stability.
• Establish short-term goals and include steps to address safety and immediate family stability.
• Ensure that all care plan activities have time lines and support services.
• Coordinate the provision of social services to patients, families, and Significant others to enable these parties to deal with the impact of illness on individual family functioning and to achieve maximum benefits from healthcare services.
