Jan '82-August' 07: Last Position : Chief Manager & Head - Corporate Communications / PR / HR * (Addl. responsibility of HR) \n \nFrom 1982 to 1994 I worked as a Russian Translator in ONGC as a Class - I Officer, rose to the position of Deputy Director ( Interpretation & Translation ). I was responsible for all Russian technical translation works carried out by the Russian and Indian experts on oil and gas field technology. I was also responsible for simultaneous interpretation of discussions, meetings and conferences. \n \n \nFrom 1995 to 2000 I worked as a Corporate Communicator ( lateral shift within the company ) only since Russian Translation position had to be scrapped. As a Corporate Communicator I was responsible for designing and formulation of company advertisement strategies, budgeting, writing, editing and production of publications, press releases and also documentary films, organised seminars, national and international conferences, media coordination, handling advertising agencies etc. \n \nFrom 2000 to 2007 I was additionally given HRM and CSR . As the Head of the three units now my work involved guiding and supervising a team of around 200 people. Besides normal HR functions I felt an immense need for automation of HR processes through SAP to reduce turn out time for different functions. For the first time in ONGC SAP was implemented for which the work stations were redesigned and restructured. I pioneered this process in ONGC and gradually the entire company was taken by a storm of restructuring and work place automation. I had no prior HR experience, it was only my desire for efficiency and transparency that led me to bring about this change. \n \nAfter 2007 I worked as a VSO Volunteer in South Africa and Kenya. I was associated with an NGO as a Business Development Manager in South Africa and as an OD Advisor in the Ministry of Education, Kenya.
After my graduation in Botany ( Honours ) from Delhi University I wanted to pursue Russian Language due to the technical and technological collaboration between India and the then Soviet Union. It was purely from a professional opportunity angle. I completed a 5 years Masters Degree in Russian Language with Specialization in Technical Translation and Interpretation.
Due to my higher grades during the entire tenure of the course I received a monthly scholarship from the University Grants Commission.
