o Major responsibilities include:
Analyze business needs of customers and translate the same to technical design.
Support clients to set up disaster resistant infrastructure using products from multiple vendors.
o Examples of Projects handled:
I was the lead on a project to introduce virtualization in a major bank in Oman. This involved collecting performance data, understanding requirements and designing the solution. The solution design in turn involved understanding and ensuring the availability of storage and network infrastructure.
In another project, I led a team to migrate an insurance company’s application from physical to virtual machines. As a part of the project, we also migrated their storage to HP 3PAR and their backup to Symantec NetBackup.
o Major responsibilities included:
Maintaining the virtual infrastructure of a major commercial bank in USA.
Mentoring team members on data center related technology.
o Examples of projects handled:
I was part of a project in which the bank moved from one storage vendor to another. My job was to manage the server side (VMware) of operations and ensure a smooth transition without inconveniencing daily activities of the bank.
I also surveyed the requirements and designed the bank’s Citrix farm on top of a virtual cluster.
o Major responsibilities included:
KPIT Cummins was VMware Inc’s support partner in India between 2009 and 2011. I was recruited to provide support to the North American customers of VMware Inc on VMware’s range of product.
Mentor and lead a team of 6 engineers.
Recruit new engineers and deliver part of their training program.
Write knowledge base articles as and when required
o Examples of projects handled:
Developed the initial training material for new recruits
I was part of a team, led by the Operations Manager, which helped redefine the organizational structure of the project in order to boost efficiency.
Between January,
2009 and May, 2009 I worked (on HP payroll) with HP Globalsoft in Bangalore as a Technical Support Engineer.
Primary Responsibilities were:
Provide support to customers and HP engineers over phone, email and webex to resolve HP Proliant server related issues.
Worked as an Onsite engineer (on contract) with HP Sales in Mumbai between September, 2008 and December, 2008.
Primary Responsibilities were:
Install HP Proliant servers for HP customers and also take care of basic Windows and RHEL installations.
Worked with NTT Data in Bangalore as an Infrastructure Executive managing their internal datacenters and later Unisys mainframes for British Telecom on behalf of Unisys UK.
Primary Responsibilities were:
a. Manage the day-to-day activities of the internal Datacenters of NTT Data along with the Unisys mainframes.
b. Manage a subset of daily activities on the IBM S/390 mainframe.
c. Later manage the voicemail inboxes of British Telecom customers hosted on Unisys mainframes and their SMS inboxes on Linux servers.
