Manager Internal Audit & Costing at Al Rawabi Dairy co LLC
  • United Arab Emirates - Dubai
  • January 2008 to December 2013

Reporting to General Manager, this position involves strengthening the internal controls, procedures in farm, production and bottling, and distribution of dairy items. Risk minimisation was the guiding factor. Ensure performance of other departments, reduce inefficiencies, control and detection of fraud, suggestions for profit maximisation, streamlining and extending usage of Great Plains Dynamics( Microsoft ERP) across the organisation. Highlighted operational inefficiency with a view to improve on them. Creation of benchmarks & evaluating performance against such standards for plant department. This helped to highlight areas of inefficiency.Through my efforts in strengthening internal controls in sales, finance & stores all the external audit recommendations were fully addressed. Played an active role in Business reengineering excercises with the Farm, Sales & Plant heads.
Implemented & rolled out Activity Based Costing( ABC) software for accurate reporting of Costs by SKU, Route, Customers & area. Made extensive use of the software to maximise profits, minimise losses and check on distribution efficiencies. Helped the organisation reap cost savings and reduction using the customised reports. Helped in focussing on loss making products & suggested ways to improve. Threw light on cross subsidy of products and cross subsidy of customers thereby rationalising the discount levels .Benchmarks for maximum discounts by category ( dairy & juice) and also by customer segment were evolved.
Played an active role in sourcing new vendors for Animal feeds and other capital spends thereby enabling healthier competition. This helped to reduce the prices of inputs. As an Internal audit head this helped to give an assurance , that the organisation paid the due money for its purchases. Considerable savings were generated in most purchases, out of my sourcing efforts compared to the efforts of purchase team.
• Competitive quotes for silo project yielded more than Dhs one million realised savings.
• Hay cover options threw a potential savings of Dhs 1.5 million.
• 200 ml bottle project -potential saving of Dhs 400 K .
• Newly sourced vendors for regular animal feed purchases like corn, alfalfa hay, soya bean meal, wheat bran etc., yielded more than Dhs 3 million savings in the last two years.
