Guide others within the medical center towards a culture of patient safety mandating process improvements which support the reduction of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes. Oversees the activities of the patient safety committee,
educate other practitioners on the system-based causes for medical error, consult with management and staff, and communicate literature-based ideas regarding effective patient safety strategies to others in the organization. Maintain compliance with any and all regulatory standards
Carry out quality improvement activities for the Nursing Services Department in alignment with AUBMC. These activities include performance improvement, quality control, time motions, data management and reporting, and monitoring activities. Evaluate quality of patient care by rounding on patients regularly to determine if clinical indicators were met, such as IV Insertion, pressure ulcers care, falls, etc. Intervene as needed. Design monitoring tools, collect and analyze specific data, provide feedback/recommendations based on findings, and assist in developing policies and procedures as needed. Coach and train staff in quality improvement policies and procedures. Collaborate with the Hospital Quality Management Program and other departments in the institution. Participate in planning activities to promote Magnet standards at the Nursing Services Department. Enforce Joint Commission International (JCI) requirements, including but not limited to International Patient Safety Goals, national and international standards
Provide care for those who are suffering from all sorts of brain and nervous system disorders. Work with patients who have a variety of inherited and acquired conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, brain tumors, encephalitis and meningitis, as well as those who have suffered trauma, such as stroke victims and those who have had brain or spinal injuries. Focuses on helping patients to deal with and recover from their conditions and improve their physical, behavioral and cognitive abilities.
Act as an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. Work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
