I started in the company as a digital retouching specialist 5 years ago. I worked my way up to digital division manager, where I was in charge of making sure the quality or work was up to standard, delivery dates were met and controlled stock levels. After this I became operations manager where I became in charge of the entire retouching and framing division of the company, again controlling delivery dates and stock and dealing with any staff issues.
I became Studio Manager in February 2011 which means I am currently In charge of running our busy Beach Road studio. I report to 3 directors and supervise 20+ staff members of different nationalities from photographers and front of house to retouchers, drivers, cleaners and framers.
My role encompasses controlling monthly schedules and bookings, resolving issues with staff, customer service, making and handling quotations, budgeting and revenue.
I have had a wide range of experience within my roles involving many aspects of digital photography, image manipulation, digital files storage and handling through to managing schedules and people to keep a very busy studio running smoothly.
i was initially in charge of printing black and white photographs in the darkroom to fill client orders.
I trained on the job to become proficient in digital image manipulation in Photoshop when we made the switch to digital. I was the companies main digital retouching artist making sure all orders were completed on time and dealt directly with suppliers and clients and worked very well with both.
