Ras Laffan Medical Centers are one of the Qatar Petroleum Medical Services’ (QPMS) multi-specialty poly clinics with short term indoor facility, at hand laboratory & radiology departments. With a practice group of about 30 doctors, these 2 clinics serve to over 100, 000 populations of the Ras Laffan Industrial city, the employees of Qatar Petroleum and their dependents.
SPECIAL DUTIES
-Lead Doctor for Clinical Audit-QPMS
Responsible to oversee Clinical Audit work conducted across all medical facilities of the QPMS
Prepared & Published Annual Audit Reports for Year 2009 & 2010
-Lead Doctor-CME
For my practice group since Jan/2008 and as Member of Central CME committee since May/2010
Responsible for planning, appraisal, facilitation & conduction of the CME program for practice group
Presented over 60 lectures for the fellow Physicians, Pharmacists, Nurses and Occupational Health staff on various topics
-Secretary Journal Club
Since March/2011 appointed as the Secretary of the Medical Journal Club

REGULAR DUTIES
As part of the Primary Care and Occupational Health medical team;
•Providing medical services, on appointment and to walk in patients to all QP employees
•Providing Occupational Health services including; pre-employment, periodic medical, fitness to work and fitness post illness, injury & prolonged absence, health surveillance and promotion
•Management and follow up of patients with Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension and other chronic ailments
•Discuss medical problems with patients; arrange any necessary laboratory and radiologic tests
•Review results of investigations and arrange appropriate treatment in the form of Medication, Physiotherapy or Referral to hospital, as needed
•Inform the Senior Medical Officer about any serious illness or possibility of contagious outbreak and mass medical emergencies
•Part of team for preparation of Protocols & Guidelines on common medical problems encountered at the health facility

Saif and Ibrahim ObaidAllah hospitals are main referral hospitals for the Emirate of Ras al Khaimah, serving a population of over 200, 000. Hospitals have general medicine, cardiology, psychiatry & dermatology departments, Coronary & Intensive care units, a well equipped Emergency department, regional Dialysis center and modern radiology & laboratory facilities.

SPECIAL DUTIES
•Worked as Quality Coordinator, from July 2003 to September 2007, for the Accident & Emergency department for the ISO 9001-2000 certification program of the hospital
•Established and ran a specialty Diabetes Mellitus clinic for over three years
•Preparing the monthly shift Rota and annual leave schedules for the department
•Conducted audit on number of clinical aspects
•As lead doctor in CME team presented a large number of lectures and presentations on various clinical subjects
REGULAR DUTIES
As part of the medical team, I was performing:
•Regular, twice weekly Out-patient clinics, providing consultation to the patients with chronic ailments, follow up of patients discharged from the hospital and referred from health centers
•Management of patients, under consultants’ supervision, admitted to the hospital, Work involved clinical interviewing, examination, clerking the patients, ordering the necessary work up, reviewing the results, prescribing the medication, planning further management, discharge from hospital and referral to tertiary centers, if needed
•Worked in fixed duty Rota to provide 24 hours emergency cover for the in-patients
•Worked in the Emergency Room, to provide initial assessment and emergency care for stabilization of critically ill patients before admission to the hospital, referral to other facilities or discharge home
•Medical opinion on patients admitted to other units
•Participating in Journal clubs & CME activities as part of Continuous Professional Development program

This is a teaching hospital affiliated to Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore, with a bed capacity of 1100+. It has Medical, Surgical and Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics and Psychiatry departments and their sub-specialties with modern, well equipped laboratory and radiology departments and a well maintained library.
My job at Services hospital was full time and regular.
SPECIAL DUTIES
•Training of the junior House Officer
•Training and teaching of the undergraduate medical students
•Help in selection of patients for undergraduate teaching and conduction of examinations
•Help in conducting the examination and selection of patients for final MBBS examination
•As a Registrar, taking part in ward administration and day to day workings
REGULAR DUTIES
•Providing inpatient care to the patients admitted to the medical ward, helping the house officers to plan management of the patients, from clerking to reviewing the laboratory and radiologic work up
•Management of acute medical emergencies, decision on admission of patients to the medical ward and referral to out-patient department, in liaison with senior medical staff
•Attend the out patient clinic on regular bases, under supervision of my consultants, providing the consultation to the patients, follow up of patients discharged from the hospital and referred from other clinics
•Performing the routine bedside medical procedures
•Attending the consultants’ rounds regularly
•Attended the hospital’s weekly clinico-pathological conferences regularly and represented my unit at a number of times.

Sheikh Zayed hospital, one of the larger and most modern hospitals of the city, is a teaching hospital, affiliated to the Post-graduate Medical Institute and Punjab University, Lahore.
Responsibilities:
•Management of patients, under consultants’ supervision, admitted to the medical and cardiology wards. Clinical interviewing, examination, ordering the necessary work up, reviewing the results and planning further management
•Attend the consultants’ rounds and help in the out-patient clinics
•To learn and practice the common bedside medical procedures
•Worked in the Rota to provide 24 hours cover to the patients in the wards, and in the Emergency Room

I worked as House officer for a period of one year (April 1987 - March 1988) six months in Medicine and six months in Surgery.
During this time I was able to learn:
•The management of common acute and chronic medical and surgical problems
•Taking care of the in-patients, clerking the patients, requesting appropriate laboratory and radiologic work up. Learnt how to review the results and application to the patients’ management
•Learnt and practiced how to perform common bed side medical procedures
•In the surgical department, assisted my seniors in performing all types of major surgeries and performed minor surgical procedures under their supervision
