The numerous Contracts although individually modest in value, have when combined an overall value of some AED 1.2 Billion. The fast track nature of the work has given me a great exposure to varied Claims which larger Projects would rarely be subjected to.

• Advising both the Resident Engineer and the Abu Dhabi Municipality on all Contractual issues preparing responding to Contractor Claims.

• Implementing both a bottom up and top down approach to the Project Administration, Contractual and Commercial Procedures.

• Preparing and issuing cost reports

My responsibilities varied over the 3 years and included two secondments, but I was principally focused on the delivery of the clients’ key commercial objectives performing the role of a Cost Consultant on Post Contract Projects. Within this medium sized London main contractor my main duties included working as a quantity surveyor on a £8M design and build retail park in north London. This role included:

Continuously analysing and managing cost throughout the duration of the project and periodically carrying out CVR’s for in house reporting.

Assisting in the submission of main contractor applications and variations to the client in accordance with the contract and agreeing the final account.

While working on the above projects I also assisted with quantity surveying and estimating duties on a number of other projects, which included agreeing the large subcontractor final accounts for Tuthill Stairs in Newcastle, and coordinating and carrying out the cost management of the internal PJ Carey HQ extension and refurbishment.
