In recent years the quality of service delivery has become an important focus of attention for every one employed in health care. The project starts with formulation of the strategic plan of the Health organization, setting strategies, and translating the strategies into specific quality initiatives. Develop participants as reflective practitioners with the skills, confidence and awareness necessary to identify and implement evidence based quality and safety in healthcare. Use concepts, tools, skills and techniques necessary for application of internationally recognized quality system standards such as ISO 9000 and the Joint commission International Standards [JCI]. Prepare participants to be active members in teams carrying out planning and improvement projects. Provide about 70% of the body of knowledge required to sit for the exam of the Healthcare Quality Certification Board (HQCB) in the USA.

This field seeks to close the gap between engineering and medicine: It combines the design and problem solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences to advance healthcare treatment, including diagnosis, monitoring, treatment and therapy.
