Scheduled/prioritised maintenance and repairs to avoid unnecessary delays to major road works utilising computer and schedule stagger/ boards. Instigated safer and more efficient ways of operating within the Maintenance Department, by putting into practice knowledge and systems gained from an earlier career in the Air Force.

1993 to 1996 Plant Mechanic - Narrabri Shire Council
Serviced and repaired council's fleet. A diverse range of vehicles and equipment comprising: motor graders, bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, loaders, prime movers, low loaders, road stabiliser, hydraulic drive rollers, bobcat, light vehicles and garden maintenance equipment etc. Major repairs include: engine rebuilding, transmission repairs, final drive repairs, hydraulic repairs etc. Promoted to Plant Co-ordinator in 1996.
1991 to 1993 Recruiting Officer HR - Air Force
As a Recruiting Officer, I gained experience and training in communication skills, the implementation of EEO and commitment to the principles of cultural diversity. The position involved interviewing and assessing applicants, public speaking and travelling most of North Queensland meeting candidates of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
1988 to 1991 Maintenance Co-ordinator - Air Force
Assess the condition of the fleet of Orion aircraft from EE500 maintenance logs. Analyse data from computer, schedule/stagger boards, location/situation/configuration boards etc, to accurately prioritise maintenance. Hold a maintenance briefing at the start of each day with Section Heads to prioritise and plan work for their technicians, taking into consideration logistics and whether aircraft were configured for Australian or overseas maritime operations. Forward plan for aircraft located around the world to plan for major maintenance and repairs, on route and return. Hold a second briefing at the end of dayshift to reassess and update priorities for the Section Heads of nightshift technicians.
1979 to 1988 Aircraft Technician/Team Leader - Air Force
Involved in fault finding, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of aircraft. Trained on Spectrometric Oil Analysis Program (S.O.A.P.) Reported to team
Leader/section head. Flight Line duties, involved: launch, recovery, refuelling etc. Maintenance and Flight Line duties were carried out on fighter jets, maritime aircraft and forward air control aircraft in Australia and South East Asia.
Fault diagnosis, component repairs and major servicing was performed on pure jet, gas turbine turbo prop and piston engines, fuel systems, transmissions, afterburners, etc.

1977 to 1979 Adult Trainee - Air Force
10 week Air Force recruit "boot camp" training course followed by a
10 week "General Fitters" training course.
A 34 week "Aircraft Engine Mechanical Fitters" course, covering piston, turbo prop and jet engines. This course qualified me to work on engines and aircraft throughout Australia and overseas.

Worked with 3rd year apprentice, mechanics, foreman and service manager. Serviced and repaired Chamberlain Deere tractors, John Deere cotton pickers, headers and Caterpillar industrial equipment.
