Appointed as Quality Operations Manager in May 2016 to
oversee and improve the quality of the various factories
within the group and the multiple construction sites.
Responsible for various analyses and investigations into
issues affecting the various construction sites.
Assisting with the project closing out process in conjunction
with the project team at site level.
Reporting of activities to the General Manager.
Quality Manager (Various projects as detailed in CV attached below). Projects include Dubai International Airport Expansion form Concourse B and A from project commencement to final handover. Burj Khalifa Podium, Office and Pool Pavilions and the 3 entrances (Hotel, Office and Residence). Again from project inception to final close out.
Quality Manager for Muscat International Airport Project in
Oman. This covered all façade works and internal finishes
as per our scope of works for the 3 piers, the Passenger
Facades and entrances.
Mirdif City Centre shopping mall - Facades, skylights,
balustrades, screens and entrances.
Duties on all of the above projects included, but not limited
to:-
Participation in the surveillance audits for the company’s
ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 18001 certifications.
Responsible for compilation of all initial approval
documentation for AAB and liaison with all Sub-
Contractors and Suppliers for their submissions.
Co-ordinate testing activities against the specification.
Review of all supplier Shop Drawings, Method Statements,
Material Submittals, Material Inspection Requests and
Inspection Requests and HSE Plans.
Compilation of Method Statements, Quality Plans,
Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s).
Maintain quality records as required by the specification
including the Non-Conformance Reporting System (NCR)
and subsequent Preventive Action implementation at both
site and factory level.
Regular reporting of all on-site QA/QC activities to the
Project Director.
Installation of both off and on-site mock-ups. Off site
mock-ups included the performance testing at an
independent testing laboratory.
Involvement in an international arbitration case for
Concourse 2, Terminal 3 as a factual witness. This case
was awarded in the companies favour.
Conduct off-site inspections of suppliers and services to the
various projects including overseas suppliers

Responsible for maintaining the companies ISO listing. In
addition, responsible for the preparation and implementation
of SANS / ISO TS 16949 : 2002 into the Automotive
Division and SANS / ISO 9001:2000 for the balance of the
plant.
Responsible for the Continuous Improvement programme
and the successful introduction of a Quality costing system.
Ensure product conformance to meet customer expectations
and SABS Mark scheme products.
Responsible for the incorporation of Statistical Techniques
to optimise machine performance.
As the nominated company Quality Management
Representative, liaise with all external Quality agencies with
regard to factory visits for audit purposes and ensure all
applicable drawings, specifications and samples are made
available. This includes the compilation of full PPAP
packages for the automotive industry.
Develop new products as part of the New Product
Development team.
Provide effective liaison between the Technical and
Marketing Departments to ensure customer standards are
met.
Ensure all incoming materials / components are checked
against relevant standards.
Ensure the correct sampling of new and re-conditioned
moulds and dies.
Conduct external Quality System Audits of major suppliers
with a view to improving the quality of incoming product.
Provide training, as required, on Quality related topics.
Control a staff of 5 (4 directly linked to the QA Department
and 1 involved with moulds and dies

Responsible for developing, preparing and maintaining
Quality Procedures and Standard practices in accordance
with SABS / ISO 9002.
Establish systems and procedures for improved process and
product quality, this included the analysis and reporting of
quality performance data and to investigate quality related
problems and recommend appropriate corrective action.
Conducting Internal audits of the Rolled Products Quality
Systems and procedures in accordance with SABS / ISO
9002.
Conducting external audits of supplier’s Quality
Management Systems with a view to raising the standards of
supplier’s systems to ultimately improve the quality of
incoming raw materials to the operation.
Carry out investigations related to product and
manufacturing quality of new products in conjunction with
Product Development staff, using quality engineering (QE)
techniques, resulting in the development of relevant
procedures and standard practices.
Perform ad-hoc investigations into problems concerned with
product quality or system deficiencies and develop
procedures to monitor future performance and prevent future
recurrences of such problems and, where possible, to reduce
system operating costs.
Training of both management and shop floor personnel in
the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) when required.
Set and formalise inspection standards, this included the
resolution of uncertain situations regarding material
acceptability.
Liaison with and conduct, in conjunction with outside
authorities, reviews of the Quality Management System e.g.
SABS (South African Bureau of Standards), Lloyds Register
and major customers

Conducted interviews and prepared the User Procedure
guides for the introduction of the Shell based computer
system known as MOTAS / LOPAS, this is an MRP
package. This covered all areas of purchasing, scheduling,
receipts and distribution of oil based products from the
Island View storage facility in Durban.
Presented numerous companies with their first introduction
to a “Just-In-Time” (JIT) environment. This was achieved
by running and facilitating a “hands-on” simulation game
that explored all areas of the Just-In-Time concept.

Responsible for the quality function within the plant,
reporting to the Operations Director.
Extensive liaison with suppliers, both local and overseas,
was carried out to ensure high quality of incoming goods.
Responsible for training all staff in quality techniques and
practices.
Presented a lecture at the 1988 Sales Conference on the
“Meaning of quality and where to from here”.
Assisted with the implementation of the Just-In-Time
programme. As part of the programme a video was made
(using own equipment) on Set-Up Reduction for the purpose
of showing staff what savings could be made.
Controlled a staff of 3 inspectors.

Joined BTR Sarmcol as Technical Assistant, responsible for
ensuring the technical processes within the Industrial
Products Division were carried out and updated when
necessary.
After 6 months appointed Quality Controller for this
division. This involved ensuring the quality of goods
conformed to specification. Liaison with motor vehicle
manufacturers formed a large part of this job profile.
Assisted with the development of extrusions for windscreen
doorseals for new model ranges.
Controlled a staff of 8 working on a 2-shift system.

Responsible, after a period of training, for the technical
processes involved in tyre manufacture.
Areas covered included : Mixing, Extrusion, Component
Manufacture, Tyre making, Moulding and Testing.
