Senior Reservoir Engineer at Resermine
  • Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur
  • My current job since May 2022

Provide bespoke Reservoir Engineering consulting services through AI and ML applications through the use of proprietary hybrid model workflow and capacitance-resistance model (CRM) as an analytical approach for waterflooding modelling and optimization.
Successfully passed the blind test in providing optimum well trajectories in maximising gas production in Suriya field (MTJDA). Utilisation of CRM and Fast March Model (FMM) in waterflood management and modelling for Larut field in the Malay basin.

Senior Consultant at Quantum Catalyst Partners
  • Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur
  • October 2021 to April 2022

Management consulting, government, and agency engagement. Development of an impact study as part of a national transformation effort to enhance the value of the government agencies responsible for socio-economic development in Malaysia

Senior Reservoir Engineer at Baker Hughes - Malaysia
  • Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur
  • November 2018 to December 2020

Worked as part of a team of 12 subsurface engineers, geologists, and geophysicists for the D18 field in offshore Sarawak for a brownfield redevelopment program. The field is a complex faulting system with compartmentalization uncertainties, with over 30 years production history and remaining potential in several aspects.
Led water injection (WI) program consisting of 5 water injectors and 9 well beneficiaries. Provides WI monitoring through monthly WI assessment, proposed well workover program to convert idle wells into production, and study potential WI conversion along with annual surveillance planning.
Submitted a proposal for a chemical injection program for non-performing WI wells.
Involved in efforts to sweat the remaining reserves in the field including flare gas monetization, compressor upgrade and deeper cycle drilling. Monitor performance of infill and WI beneficiaries that contributed to production increase from 4000+bpd to 7000+bpd.
Competent in the use of reservoir simulation models which includes updating history match models with recent production data, calibrating and updating reservoir models with updated core and fluid data and running prediction. Uses TNav as the main simulation engine, with knowledge of Eclipse as legacy software.
Organized technical workshops to showcase the use of technology solutions in D18 and other fields regionally in conjunction with other product lines within Baker Hughes. Submitted technical abstracts for various symposiums and technical workshops.

Senior Reservoir Engineer at Murphy Oil Corp
  • Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur
  • September 2014 to April 2016

Provided Reservoir Engineering support to a team of 6 senior technical members consisting of pipeline, facilities, petrophysics and geology. Conducted technical evaluations to qualify and mature exploration leads and prospects. Completed 5 notional field development plans leading to drilling of 5 commitment wells.
Participated in data room reviews to assess development potential for farm-in opportunities in Vietnam leading to new PSC, identification of new blocks and new frontier exploration opportunities in Australia.
Provided Reservoir Engineering support to exploration projects at regional levels. Represented Murphy in a deep water gas development project in Brunei and provided drilling operation support in Australia.

Senior Reservoir Engineer at Baker Hughes - Malaysia
  • Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur
  • November 2012 to August 2014

Joined Baker Hughes as a consultant for Gaffney Cline & Associates in providing technical consultations for field evaluations. Involved in production enhancement opportunities in Vietnam, frac campaign in China and evaluation of double porosity modelling in Australia.
Later, joined an expanding team of 12 subsurface engineers, geologists and petrophysics for D18 field development, through a newly acquired alliance with Petronas.
Involved in the development and drilling of D18-8, an appraisal well in the horst block which led to Phase 2 infill well development. Design drill stem test (DST) and monitor DST results to confirm geological knowledge within the test boundary.
Involved in full-field reservoir modelling using Petrel-Eclipse and managing legacy modelling work in IMEX to support the drilling program for production and an appraisal block.
Conducted technical evaluations such as decline analysis, material balance and fields/reservoirs/wells performance review, screening opportunities to enhance reservoir management plans and operating strategies.
Assisting Baker Hughes sales engineers in technical presentations and performing simulation work for
clients in support of Inflow Control Device (ICV) use in long horizontal wells.

Reservoir Engineer at Energy Quest Sdn Bhd
  • Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur
  • January 2008 to October 2012

Worked as part of a team of 8 subsurface engineers, geologists and petrophysics for D35, a brownfield with over 30 years production history in offshore Sarawak. Procure the use of EOR screening software from the Alberta Research Council and subsequently perform required screening works.
Performed reservoir engineering studies on fluid analysis using PVTi, material balance study to understand the reservoir compartments and core selection for EOR study. Performed SCAL analysis and well modelling for input into the reservoir model.
Ran dynamic simulation in Eclipse E100 to test multiple development scenarios. Led the studies on CO2 miscible injection using Eclipse E300 to test development scenarios under prevailing circumstances.
Led Nosong-Begawan fast-track FDP for marginal field development, involving both oil and gas reservoirs.
Mentored junior Reservoir Engineers and provided coaching and guidance to close technical gaps.

Wireline Field Engineer at Schlumberger
  • Germany - Vechta
  • July 2003 to November 2007

Proficient in a complete suite of open-hole wireline logging including Platform Express, sonic, MDT, RFT and overbalanced perforation. Cased-hole wireline logging experience including cement evaluation, sidewall coring, underbalanced perforation, and other ancillary services.
Provided RE field interpretation of the wireline logs and pressure plot for MDT/RFT data to assist decision in completing the well or sidetrack. Provided field evaluation of the cementing quality from cement evaluation logging and caliper data.
Leader of logging cells for 3 companies consisting of a lead operator and 3 wireline crews. Represented companies in wireline jobs in remote field locations, demonstrating versatility in handling multiple clients.
