To perform high quality dental nursing whilst assisting the dentists or hygienist s/he has been appointed with, in a safe and effective manner in accordance with the ‘Code of Ethics’ and the GDC requirements and recommendations to the dentists and their staff. The performance of these duties is under the reasonable directions of the principle, made known from time to time as appropriate
o To establish and maintain productive working relationships with all members of the dental team.
o To ensure that the surgical areas and equipment are regularly cleaned and maintained, including aspiration systems and autoclaves, paying all due attention to relevant legal and ethical codes, in addition to the practice policy in respect of cross infection control and Health & Safety.
o To keep accurate records and ensure the recording methods are used in line with agreed practice policy and current medico-legal guidelines.
o To liaise with the Practice Manager on all matters concerning administration, pay and service condition.
o To assist at reception and perform other clerical duties if required.

o Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
o Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
o Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
o Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
o Instruct individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, or childbirth and develop health improvement programs.
o Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
o Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
o Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
o Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained.
o Assess the needs of individuals, families, or communities, including assessment of individuals' home or work environments, to identify potential health or safety problems.
o Provide health care, first aid, immunizations, or assistance in convalescence or rehabilitation in locations such as schools, hospitals, or industry.
o Refer students or patients to specialized health resources or community agencies furnishing assistance.
o Conduct specified laboratory tests.
o Direct or coordinate infection control programs, advising or consulting with specified personnel about necessary precautions.
o Engage in research activities related to nursing.
o Work with individuals, groups, or families to plan or implement programs designed to improve the overall health of communities.
o Administer drugs, inhalation, intravenous, or other medications.
