Head - Corporate Sustainability for Mahindra Finance Limited
Sustainability Strategy:
• Responsible for strategizing approach on Green Lending & Sustainable Finance
• Present to the Board - Strategy on Sustainability, Propose Initiatives and Develop Sustainability Roadmap for long term value creation
• Internal audits on Energy and Environmental aspects
Policy Advocacy:
• Represent Mahindra Finance in strategic public platforms, events and meetings
• Advisory board and part of working group for “Finance and Insurance Sector on Climate Change” with Confederation of Indian Industry. Part of working group to formulate “Integration of SDG in Finance Sector”
• Invited by SBTi to set methodology for Science Based Targets for Financial Institutions
ESG implementation & Climate Change:
• Implementing ESG and integrating Climate change risks, its financial impacts and leverage opportunities in collaboration with internal & external stakeholders.
• Respond to information requests from global investors on ESG aspects.
• Adopted Science Based Targets (1st Financial Company)
• Carbon Neutrality Roadmap
Communication & Disclosures:
• Lead communication & voluntary disclosures (e.g., Sustainability Report, Business Responsibility & Sustainability Report (BRSR & BRR), Integrated Report, DJSI, CDP, UN SDG etc.) for Mahindra Finance
Training & Capacity Building:
• Formulate Awareness programs and Capacity building of internal stakeholders for Corporate Sustainability, which has led to easier access to reporting on International Integrated Reporting Council, BRSR and other frameworks.
Awards & Recognition:
• Responsible for recognition of Mahindra Finance in Sustainability at various platforms:
- Won Global Corporate Sustainability Award in Reporting category, hosted by Alliance of SDG at Taipei, Taiwan.
- Only Financial institution in India to be on DJSI Sustainability yearbook. Included in FTSE for GOOD index
Corporate Sustainability for JSW group
• Manage Corporate Sustainability function for various listed companies of JSW group (Steel, Energy, Cement & Infrastructure)
• Conceptualize, Develop & Implement Sustainability framework, measure and monitor objectives and performance
• Design and publish GRI based Sustainability Report | Annual Business Responsibility Report (SEBI / NVG) | Integrated reporting
• Leading initiatives to achieve performance & targets on Occupational Health & Safety, reporting, analysis and standardization of guidelines for external disclosures, planning of safety audits & submission of related case studies
• JSW’s response for investors, ESG rating agencies & Industry bodies: Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) | Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Carbon and Water | FTSE Russell | Vigeo | Sustainalitics | World Steel Association (WSA) | Ministry of Steel
• Establishing a framework for Stakeholder Engagement and Materiality
• Ownership of internal and external sustainability communications
• Lead site teams for facilitation of EHS / Sustainability training, devising training modules for teams at plant & corporate
• Increase adoption of Responsible Sourcing, Biodiversity and Life Cycle Assessment across Company
• Led the development of India’s first Environment Product Declaration (EPD) for the steel sector, based on life cycle assessment (LCA)
