Role & Responsibility:

Manage the Global Line of Business purchasing and supply chain organization to support the business needs for related material and services. Support global commodity teams and business needs while ensuring all requirements of effective purchasing and supply chain are executed.
Currently responsible for eight manufacturing locations spread across United States, Canada and Middle East

Achievements:

• Consistently exceeded cost saving targets year on year

• In-charge of Materials Planning and Procurement of automotive parts worth approx. $25 Million p.a., from General Motors companies / suppliers across the world, mainly from Australia, Japan and Brazil.
• Part of the start up team in setting up the General Motors Middle East Distribution Centre for Automotive Parts in Jebel Ali, Dubai. The Distribution Centre stocks about 34, 000 unique parts and is spread over 14, 000 sq.m.
• Responsible for setting up all Materials Management processes & systems.
• Solely responsible for integration testing and approval of all SAP (MM) processes and the multiple interfaces between SAP and all other Operational software used by DHL/Danzas.
• Current responsibilities include:
- Demand Planning & Forecasting, Inventory Management and Procurement.
- Develop effective Sourcing & Stocking Strategies to maximize Customer Service levels and optimize Inventory levels.
- Develop and implement recommendations to the senior management team to increase supply chain effectiveness, minimize supply chain costs and achieve key performance indices.
- Ensure timely placement of Purchase Orders
- Liaison with all freight forwarders and key logistics personnel to ensure timely arrival of shipments.
- Ensure all Key Performance Indices (KPI’s) are met as per the General Motors contractual terms & conditions.

Achievements:

Achieved a Parts Availability Service Level of 90% within a year of actual start up operations; with a stock turn of over 3.5.

Role & Responsibility:

Lead the Procurement and Supply Chain Operations for the Johnson Controls Middle East operations.

Achievements:

• Established the SCM function for the Middle East Region, directly controlling a spend of more than $100 Million.
• Set up a Centralized Procurement operation for UAE & the GCC countries. Streamlined and established all Procurement Systems & procedures in the Middle East Region, in line with the company’s Global policies & standards.
• Optimized sourcing in the Region and integrated it with the Global Sourcing strategies. Integrated the SCM operations at the 3 factories in Middle East (UAE, Saudi & Turkey) and reduced costs by leveraging on the combined spend.
• Generated cost saving of over $ 2 Million each year

• Lead the successful implementation of the iScala (ERP) manufacturing module at the UAE factory and was instrumental in establishing the global template for the same.
• Initiated & outsourced the complete warehousing operations in UAE, Egypt and Turkey to 3rd Party Logistics providers, resulting in substantial streamlining of operations & increasing productivity. KPIs were established for effective tracking & monitoring 3PL performance

Achievements:

• Set up and established the complete end to end Supply Chain processes for the Middle East and Africa markets including -

o Identifying and implementing a 3rd Party Logistics solution for inbound logistics (from all global suppliers), warehousing and outbound distribution to all Middle East and African regions.
o Identifying and developing an alternate regional supplier base for most commodities, in order to minimize the cost of procurement and also eventually minimize the overall supply chain costs

• Performed the role of the ‘Global Purchasing Manager’ (6 months) with the following additional achievements -

o Pivotal role in implementing the new Corporate Strategy of cutting down customer order fulfillment lead time from 12 weeks to 1 week! A key feature of this strategy being to completely outsource manufacturing and logistics.
o Negotiated and finalized Contracts with major Global Suppliers of components and sub-assemblies.
o Lead the Global cost optimization project. One of the main objectives being to develop a completely new Global supplier base in low cost countries (mainly China & India) and also subsequently establish effective supply chain processes for supplies to all Regions of VTS
o Finalized the 3rd Party Logistics Contract with the provider for the East European Region
o Identified and finalized the 3rd Part Logistics provider for the Asia Pacific Region in Shanghai.
o Set up and established the supply chain processes for the Russian Region, including signing specific Contracts with all major suppliers for supplies to the Russian division of VTS.

• Developed and established all Purchasing processes and standards which are to be followed at all Regions

The organization, headquartered in Switzerland, is a 100% subsidiary of Schindler Ltd., the world leaders in Escalators and the second largest company in Elevators.

Roles and Responsibilities:

•Project Manager for the local development (outsoucing) of the entire Elevator machine, which was being imported from Europe. Responsible for ensuring suitable technology transfer from Schindler Manufacturing Units in Europe to the local manufacturers in India.
•Responsible for local development of all other mechanical components of the Elevator.
•Negotiated and settled component pricing with Vendors.
•Responsible to ensure localization targets are met, both in terms of cost and number of components taken for import substitution.
•Negotiated and settled “Production and Supply Agreements” with all Vendors
•Implemented Quality systems and ensured that the basic norms are maintained at Vendor’s end, in line with Schindler’s high Quality Standards.
•Independently handled all aspects of logistics for the locally developed components. The functions included Planning, Scheduling, Ordering and Ensuring timely delivery of the components at sites.
•Actively involved in implementing SAP-R/3 (MM Module) in the Organization. Also functioned as a Core Team Member involved in upgrading the SAP-R/3 version 3.1 to version 4.6C.

Achievements:

•Single handedly developed the whole Elevator Machine locally within a span of one year.
•Achieved a recurring cost saving of Rs.12, 000, 000/- ($260, 000) p.a.
