MRI) and MR Spectroscopy.
Researched a new method of obtaining functional Magnetic Resonance (fMRI) information from the brain
using MR Spectroscopy (MRS); which is an ideal complement to conventional MR imaging by measuring metabolic
activity.
The aim was to highlight the feasibility of using Phosphorus (31P) MRS as a measure of functional activity
of the visual cortex, and investigating the brain's biochemistry in-vivo during a visual task/stimulus.
Research was done on the state-of-the-art 7 Tesla (7T) MRI, which provided a much higher SNR and a better
separation of the metabolite peaks.
The study served as a basis for future research to be advanced and improved upon.
