I am currently working with S&D division of IBM .This Group support and facilitates IBM and other external data consumers, primarily the Marketing and opportunity building teams. I have been contributing in this team as a data engineer studying raw data \[structured / unstructured\]received from multiple sources and create visualization adaptable structures which are feed into various visualization tools like, COGNOS, TABLEAU, DUNDAS . I have been doing the analysis and data blending using Pyspark in Spark Framework supported in Hadoop cluster . I also Support ETL workloads using IBM DataStage. I also have the opportunity to support Multiple RDBMSs primarily on DB2 11.1
As a Senior Database Administrator I have been supporting both Development and Production databases of Oracle and DB2 hosted on Linux, Windows and AIX environments supporting Clients across the Globe. I am involved in Database Design and Modeling working closely with the Data Architects to understand the Performance requirements. Maintaining their Production Databases by Working on Performance Tuning, Backup Recovery Strategies, Disaster Recovery setup and maintenance, managing user Securities. I also lead a team of DBAs, where I am involved in assigning and tracking the tasks across the team based on skill matrix for smooth and successful delivery of the work products and resolving conflicts. I also work as a mentor and a People manager for members of the DBMS competency. Achieved wonderful results by automating regular DBA tasks using shell scripting in the Projects to minimize the cost and efforts for the deliverable and increase efficiency by at least 60 to 70% in terms of man hours pro-activity. As an active member of the DBMS competency I have leverage my knowledge and skills across the Competency to cross train DBA members and resolving Database issues across all projects. I had also been regular presenter representing IBM in the IDUG sessions where I’ve presented sessions on DBA Tips and Tricks using DB2 tools from 10.5 and New Features of DB2 10.5 BLU. During my tenure in IBM I have been working multiple projects \[MBPS assets, Marriott, Nestle, Coca Cola, Myer, Aldo, Ericsson\]. I have more than 12 generic assets for supporting the Database environments in Oracle and DB2 which are used by DBAs across IBM Global. Currently working with Design Thinking Approach for addressing Client requirements.
