Several Standards from developed countries like the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) USA, Joint Commission International Accreditation, Canadian Council of Healthcare Standards, Australian Council of Healthcare Standards, International Organization for Standardization (ISO 9002) and Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award have been used as resource materials in the development of these Standards. However, the Joint Commission International Standards have been the main basis in the development of the MSD Standards. These have further been customized to fulfill current healthcare practices and needs in the MSD, Ministry of Defense and Aviation.

As these Standards are controlled documents, all amendments, deletion and additions to these will have to go through the System Control Office under the TQM Development Bureau in MSD, Riyadh
