Onsite Senior Architect for Qatar Petroleum District Project (QPDP) West Bay, Doha- Qatar - Building Includes: Open & cellular Office spaces, Management Suite across nine high-rise towers; Health & Wellness center; Corporate Training facilities; Concourse with food service, etc.; Prayer rooms; Auditorium; five star Hotel; VIP entrance; External plaza & dedicated underground parking; Total Gross Floor Area 690, 940 sq. m.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Design stage
Review and determine scopes of work from consultants
Full design review of consultant submittals throughout all stages
Observe quality / interdisciplinary coordination issues
Resolve complex and technical design issues
Lead the technical team and consultants to ensure that construction documents accurately interpret the intended design.
Construction stage
Ongoing surveillance and monitoring of CM Consultant supervision
Participate in routine Weekly QA/QC and site progress review and Technical meetings.
Oversee base-build progress on site
Review and approval of Construction Contractors’ submissions, i.e. Material Submittals.
Review and approval of Mock-ups, Samples etc.
Reviewing and commentating on subcontractor’s pre- qualifications
Review & approval of Contractor's Request for Substitutes
Witness Equipment / Factory / Site Acceptance Tests as required
Review / concurrence with ongoing RFIs and decisions
On site Construction Administration for Hamad International Airport (HIA), (formerly named New Doha International Airport) for Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), the new airport constructed on 5, 400-acre site. The first phase construction of the new airport included two runways of 4, 850m and 4, 250m in length, designed specifically to accommodate the new Airbus A380-800 superjumbo. A three-story terminal building, including 350, 000m² of floor space, of which 25, 000m² is dedicated as retail space, and with 9, 300 sq. m. 100 room in-airport hotel along with a 1, 580 sq. m. health spa, a 1, 900 sq. m. public mosque, 3, 100-car parking garage with adjacent ground transportation building, two central utility plants, and a 66, 000 sq. m. state-of-the-art flight catering facility. Phases 1 and 2 concourses have 40 contact gates.
Managing, reviewing and commentating on subcontractor’s pre-qualifications, interiors-related Material data and samples, shop drawings and RFI’s, liaising with HOK Architecture Department, HOK Doha and Overseas Bechtel Engineering Team.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Reviewing and evaluate contractor’s submittals for lower tier subcontractors and/or venders for major purchase orders relating to past performance in the successful completion of construction work and /or supply of materials and equipment of similar nature.
• Reviewing Materials submittals comprising technical literature, samples and mock-ups as appropriate and in compliance with design specifications.
• Reviewing Shop Drawing submittals in compliance with the design intent.
• Attendance as required at site progress and technical meetings to resolve technical issues.
• Analyze technical/construction/build-ability issue and provide drawings and specifications coordinated with engineering and other disciplines.
• Prepare Field Observation Reports after each site visit using professional terminology, the observation recorded therein serves as a permanent record of the activities, installations, progress of work, weather, site conditions, etc…
• Respond to Contractor's request for information to clarify ambiguities.
Senior Architect for Jaber Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah Hospital & Trauma Center, for the Kuwait Ministry of Health; The Jaber Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Hospital project is located in South Surra, Kuwait. The hospital is 1, 120 beds; the total built up area is 270, 000 square meters. The hospital provides a comprehensive range of medical services; comprises Diagnostic and Treatment services, Trauma Center and Casualty services, Outpatient services, Dental services, Ob/Gyn services, Inpatient Care services, VIP Suites for the Visiting Heads of States and also another wing for VIP Suites. Project Value: 1.05 Bn. USD
Responsibility included:
Assists in the development of the design work; leads in the production of technical drawings and specifications; coordinates the related work of the other disciplines.
Facilitate the timely exchange of information between all project team members; assume responsibility for the coordination of all disciplines’ documents, and for insuring that quality control procedures are enforced.
Assume primary responsibility for the daily activities of the architectural project team and the progress of the work and for the technical quality of the Construction Documents (drawings and specifications).
Mentor junior architectural staff assigned to the project.
Help maintain and improve office architectural standards, details and production tools.

Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of architectural works and finishes.
Review Contractor's staff qualifications and CV's to ensure that they are qualified for the Project.
Review sub-contractors pre-qualifications and inspect their shop / factory where required.
Review architectural materials to ensure that they are in accordance with the specifications.
Review shop drawings to ensure that they are in accordance with the design and that they are coordinated with other disciplines on site. Receive feedback from the Site Engineer / Inspector or design office and incorporate their comments.
Review method statements to ensure that the Contractor proposal is feasible and will achieve the intended purpose.
Inspect deliveries / installed / constructed work to ensure that it is in accordance with the shop drawings and the specifications. Review checklists and issue inspection report.
Monitor Contractor's submittals to local authorities and ensure that they are carried out in a timely manner in accordance with the contract documents.
Prepare "Non-Conformance Report" when work is not in accordance with Contract Documents.
Respond to Contractor's request for information to clarify ambiguities.
Attend regular meetings with the Construction team, and the Client to report on progress and help resolve issues where they arise.
Ensure that issues related to local codes, such as health and safety executives and environmental impact issues are complied with.
Coordinate between Architectural and Services Engineers to ensure the smooth progress of the work on site.
Take full charge of site office and perform accordingly in the absence of Resident Engineer.
