Leading negotiations for external funding for a Renewable Energy Projects in Egypt and East Africa (through roadshows to private equity and strategic investors as well as project finance schemes with both local and multi-national financial institutions).

• Identified of credit concentrations and quantified its impact on different business portfolios under management
• Monitored the allocation of Capital to build shareholders’ value with a full understanding of the positive/negative potential of the embedded risks
• Working closely with Legal and Documentation teams to ensure that the PB documentation requirements are current and robust
• Ensured compliance with all applicable policies, procedures; and where apparent, highlight any non-compliance with laws and regulations
• Monitoring portfolio risk profiles, concentrations, and economic / industry / competitive /regulatory developments

• Established the bank risk appetite on risk - return trade off basis on all business risks’ taking units in order to quantify the economic capital requirements
• Mitigated concentration risk of loan portfolio in heavy industries’ sector, through introducing new project finance schemes such as PPP and IPP as well as restructuring of financing packages in terms of time and asset protection classes

• Structured an integrative risk-based decision making that is based on high-level accountability, clear responsibilities as befitting a legitimate strategic discipline within the bank
• Monitored the allocation of Capital to build shareholders’ value with a full understanding of the positive/negative potential of the embedded risks
• Initiated Stress-Testing discussions for modeling the Bank In-House Model, applying the Single Risk Factor Approach on the Macro/Aggregate Level. Capitalizing on the moderate complexity of the Risk Factors in the Local Financial Services Sector
• Established Senior Executives’ Communications with Board of Directors level discussions for tackling the Bank Risk Appetite and Risk Profile, under the Top - Down Approach, through formulating the Board Risk Management Committee Charter (scope of supervision)
• Designed the bank risk management policies & processes for the credit, market & liquidity risks management (governed by the Basel II - Standardized Approach)
• Designed a Mechanism for the management of the bank assets & liabilities under the Risk - Return Trade Off

• Played a key role in the due diligence team for the acquisition of 92% of Delta International Bank (“DIB”) with a total acquisition value of US$ 343 million at a P/B of 3.7x
• Assigned as secondment for Ahli United Bank Egypt (AUB Egypt, formerly DIB) for the restructuring and staff screening of the CBG (post-acquisition)

• Maximized non-asset fee income (achieved a 272% growth rate in overall profitability of Assets under Management)
• Developed the relationship management system resulting in assets growth of 175% and liabilities growth of 100%
• Captured KIPCO Group business which represented a major market breakthrough for NBK (KIPCO is controlled by the ruling family of Kuwait)

• Benchmarked and valued business opportunities in the education sector, eventually concluding the largest cross selling deal in the history of NBK
• Modeled and designed two new asset-linked consumer financing products that led to a strategic alliance with the American University of Kuwait (owned by KIPCO Group)
• Tailored a comprehensive 4-year credited internship program hosted by the American University of Kuwait, which resulted in concluding a sizable financing and investment (nominated as the largest Cross Selling Deal in NBK - 2005 & First of its kind in Kuwait).

• Played a key role in the bank turnaround as one of the newly appointed executive managers reporting to the Vice Chairman
• Participated in the Assets & Liabilities Committee as well as Credit Committee
• Appointed as the bank representative in the Board of Directors of the Credit Guarantee Company
• Developed a 3-party strategic alliance for developing SMEs in Egypt, in cooperation with the IMC and the Ministry of Industry and sponsored by EIB
• Trained a taskforce of 30 corporate relationship officers (average age of 45 years of age) on Chase Manhattan’s Model of Relationship Management

Headed a team of credit & marketing officers, and developed a successful strategy for cross selling in order to maximize the bank’s profitability

Evaluated and managed financing equity investment proposals and mega project finance schemes in construction and building materials, power generation, telecom & information technology
