Review and recommending corporates / syndication / financial institution / sovereign credits to the approving authority on an ongoing basis and portfolio management to detect early warning signs. Providing periodical update on the portfolio to the Board Risk Committee.
Supervision of credit portfolio of the subsidiaries (Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, UAE and Malta) and report potential risk issues to the Board; work with subsidiaries to align the process and policies with the best practices of the group.
Subject matter expert on credit risk related projects initiated by the Group viz. corporate rating model implementation; in-house LGD development; IFRS 9; etc.
Recommending credits for large and medium corporates to the approving authorities. Initiate constructive dialogue with the business on credit related matters to address / mitigate credit concerns. Portfolio management to detect early warning signs through regular tracking of past dues / excesses, expired limits, pending documents, covenant compliance, and collateral shortfall; timely escalation of prolonged irregularity. Responsible for ensuring smooth conduct of the departmental audits, handling auditors queries, and sitting for the exit meetings in order to close audit findings to the best possible extent.
Instrumental in creating bank-wide awareness on IFRS 9 in collaboration with Finance & IT. Initiating internal deliberation on specific requirement concerning PD, LGD and CCF models resulting in an implementation roadmap highlighting dependencies like, budget approval, resource mobilization, stakeholders’ consensus, etc.
Owner of the Risk Appetite Policy and Credit Risk Policy having responsibility for a regular update and annual renewal at the Board level
Responsible to generate new business opportunities and handle existing relationships relating to corporate clients in Construction & Contracting and Real Estate sectors. Actively involved in finalizing the syndication with QNB & CBQ for Doha Metro Financing
Ensure smooth completion of the customers’ requests on a day-to-day basis by effectively liaising with the operations, credit administration, and legal department.
Close follow up in case of contract / project financing whereby ensuring timely settlement of dues, receipt of project payments and meeting of agreed milestones.
Prepare call reports and detailed credit applications for timely approval based on credit due diligence and structuring of the facilities in strict conformity with the Credit Policy and Procedure Manual.
Portfolio monitoring on a regular basis and timely referral for remedial action for any credit or other situation where the Bank is at risk of financial loss arising from adverse business, customer, or service quality developments
Ensuring at all times the validity of approved limits and completeness of all requisite facility, security and customer documentation.
Preparing credit appraisal reports for large corporate clients; providing in-depth financial statements analysis together with analyzing the strategy, industry, peer group, environmental issues, strengths, & risks associated with the client and finally assigning an internal credit rating. The report also includes limits details on a global level, security offered and the covenant compliance details.
Liaising with various stakeholders including relationship managers, credit approvers, sector heads as well as other departmental heads in the Corporate Banking division. Amongst the first few analysts to visit New York and London sector teams as part of this relationship building exercise.
Monitoring the portfolio on a regular basis and proposing rating actions, as needed. Holding regular discussions with the team and other stakeholders on market and regulatory developments affecting clients’ portfolio.
Managing a team of four analysts - this includes the sole responsibility of managing the workflow of the team as well as setting the objectives and personal development plans for each member.
Training and mentoring analysts on several aspects related to credit analysis as well as on effective ways of communication of ideas while writing reports and effective liaison with stakeholders.
Conducting interviews as part of the recruitment panel for analysts and sr. analysts positions within the department
Credit research & analysis of counterparts across geographies and sectors, determination of credit rating and authoring credit reports for standalone entities as well as for peer groups.
Tracking of portfolio on a regular basis and co-ordinate closely with credit officers for timely submission of credit reports for approval
Project Finance / Credit Application(s): Preparation of Detailed Project Reports, including Techno-Economic Feasibility Study Reports (Term Loans / Mortgages)
Finance & Accounts: Preparation and analysis of Financial Statements for various entities
Audit & Taxation: Statutory & Tax Audits of Manufacturing and Trading Firms, Continuous/Internal Audit for Partnership & Proprietorship concerns, preparation & filing of IT returns of the assesses
