To be the lead Electrical Engineer for all First Rand Group data centre projects. This includes:
- Technical leadership
- Commissioning
- Testing
- Innovation
To be the technical expert in all data centre related projects by supporting the sales team in a pre-sales function as well as the projects team in deployment. The role required expertises in the following:
- Electrical
- Mechanical
- Fire suppression
- Building works
• Optimisation and improvement of existing systems and processes.
• Creation of technical requirements for tender documents and evaluation of tender bid applications in accordance with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and supply chain management rules.
• Automation of the MV/LV electrical network via the implementation of SCADA systems.
• Investigations into various types of faults and failures by conducting root cause analysis.
• Project management.
• Creation of codes of practice to ensure knowledge transfer.
• Design and implementation of software systems as required.
• Management of computer networks, servers and databases to ensure system availability.
• Preparation of budgets.
• Design of microwave and fibre telecommunication links to various Eskom sites.
• Services included PAX lines, Email and internet at offices, and SCADA traffic at substations.
• Create project reports including business case, bill of materials, scope of work, engineering drawings and calculation of tariffs.
• Presentation of projects to review committees.
A BEng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering focusing on the following 4 major subjects: 1. Power Distribution Engineering 2. Energy Management 3. Introduction to Research 4. Renewable Energy (to be completed at the end of this year)
A BSc in Electronic Engineering completed in the minimum of 4 years. Subjects included all those required as per any Washington Accord Engineering degree and is therefore accepted internationally.
