I work with several distinguished clients, including major corporations in Saudi Arabia and abroad. The services I offer include content creation, editorial services for publicly available and in-house publications, and professional translation services.
I was the resident researcher, translator and writer. My duties encompassed any and all aspects of writing, including speech writing, report writing, editing, proofreading, translation, and photography. I reported directly to the head of the Department of Communications at the ministry.
My skills come together in a unique way as I provide writing, translation and photography to many entities on a freelance, contractual basis all over the Kingdom.
Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) is Saudi Arabia’s second mobile phone service provider, its most progressive, and its most successful. In as short a time as four years, Mobily has had numerous successes under its belt. By building a 45-percent market share with 11 million mobile users, along with an impressive 85-percent market share in the mobile broadband sector, to name only two of its breakthroughs, Mobily is now an icon. Mobily is the very first Arab company to win the Dale Carnegie Award, and is a blue-chip company on the Saudi Stock Exchange.
As Internal Communications Officer within the Internal Communications section at Corporate Communications, I am part of the link between Mobily and its inner audience - its 3, 800 employees. I handle various aspects of communication with my colleagues, ranging from dispatching well-edited, highly-detailed internal announcements to editing parts of Mobily’s own two publications, Nashrati (a monthly magazine for employees) and Mobily World (the company’s quarterly magazine aimed at its clients.) I also handle all corporate photography and manage various projects pertaining to events and public relations in a highly dynamic corporate environment.
The Saudi Gazette is the go-to source of national news for the massive intellectual non-Arab-speaking community in Saudi Arabia. As national editor, I was trusted with the grave task of the daily editing and final assembly of the newspaper’s face - its national pages. With the support of a distinguished and dedicated group of reporters, we created highly readable content presented in a lively, vibrant layout on a daily basis.
The Saudi Gazette is a major opinion leader in the Saudi political, social and economic scenes, and the opinion section reflects the daily newspaper’s influence in these areas. As opinion editor, I contribute to bringing the voice of the Saudi Gazette’s readers to light, and help convey the newspaper’s message to its readers through the thoughtful selection of news analysis and opinion articles, as well as express the Saudi Gazette’s opinion through the daily editorial.
I assisted the national editor in generating story ideas, managing the reporters and subeditors, and building pages for the national section in The Saudi Gazette, for the interest of national and expatriate readers. I also create automotive material for my weekly Motoring page, in which I test drive automobiles and write about them.
I reported on stories of public interest, both with Saudi and expatriate readers. The scope of my reporting ranged from hard news to human-interest features, such as politics, traffic and accidents, police and crimes, and humanitatian stories.
I was also the chief photojournalist, creating art to go with my own stories as well as those written by other reporters. I also created stand-alone art for the newspaper’s photo stock, and my photographic art has hit front page many times. The touphest reporting and photographic jobs are still entrusted to me by my editors.
I helped transform The Saudi Gazette’s translation department into a fully functional contributor to the editorial content of the newspaper. I edited a daily page titled ‘Pulse of the Nation, ’ in which opinions from The Saudi Gazette readers and other Saudi Arabic-language newspapers were reflected accurately.
I also edited a weekly Motoring page that tackles everything automotive. I write well-grounded, informative articles about cars and give advice to motorists on how to have safer, more pleasurable and less costly journeys, whether short jaunts from home to office or thousand-mile trips to see loved ones across borders.
I reported on every event that concerns in the automotive community within Saudi Arabia as well as the Middle East, this in addition to other topics unrelated to the automotive whenever my reporting experience is needed.
I was assigned to take photos to be published in The Saudi Gazette almost on a daily basis, in addition to doing my own coverage on related stories.
I was often assigned to photographic missions that demanded the utmost experience and dedication on the part of the photographer. My pictures appeared on the pages of The Saudi Gazette with high acclaim and admiration for my work from my editors and readers alike.
Created Arabic-language subtitling (translation for TV) for English-language television material prior to it being aired on the UK-based Showtime satelite TV station via their contractor, Rosetta International, with utmost accuracy and readabiltiy in order to convey the original content to Showtime viewers with no less than the highest levels of accuracy.
Managed and created English language political content for Albawaba’s English-language news section, with the aim of maximizing page views and unique visitors who demand news in accurate detail.
Covered events deemed significant by AFP's editors in Jordan as a "stringer" - or freelancer - with the aim of providing expressive and timely imagery to the vast number of the world's number one news agency, Agence France Presse (AFP).
Managed and created English and Arabic language political and motoring content for related sections, on the basis of user feedback and with the aim of maximizing page views and unique visitors.
Set forth the vision and framework for an automotive Arabic-language bi-weekly print supplement distributed across the region. As work progressed, I fine-tuned the publication to attract content partnerships with major automotive publications.
I set the foundations for Jordan’s second English language daily with a group of talented and experienced journalists. I managed to position the publication as Jordan’s leading source on automotive news and motor sport within four months of a hard, focused effort.
I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism/TV production, with a minor in English Literature. I also taught English conversation to freshman and sophomore students during my last year in college and immediately after my graduation.
