This exposure familiarized me with the practical aspects of managing suppliers and indenters comprehensively, increasing my negotiation and communication expertise and implementing purchase control procedures to improve procurement practices and techniques.
I also look after the whole range of operational activities from purchase requisition to purchase order using Oracle 11i as the ERP System. My goal here is to make the procedures system dependent rather than individual dependent. Negotiating and building healthy relationships with suppliers, inspecting and monitoring monthly shipments and claims, and finding multiple sources for import items are also a key areas under my KPIs.
Key responsibilities handled: • Issuance of Production plans for all products and factories.
• Updating and monitoring PSI files (Production, Sales & Inventory)
• ASCP and MRP Run
• Order placement to Suppliers: o Relationship building with existing and at the same time finding new sources.
o Price negotiations and value buying.
o Follow up for shipments status and claims.
o Monitoring suppliers overall performance and managing contracts
Achievements and Implementation: • Checklist and Price variation module for correct pricing and sourcing
• Purchase Control procedures and Suppliers/Indenter's KPI implementation
• Daily Commodity and Forex prices
• Achieved benchmark of finding 3 Suppliers each for all top 20 Import Items
• More than 1 Million USD saving in Import Purchases over last fiscal year from negotiations
• Achieved 90% shipments on/before time in the fiscal year 2011-2012.

Key responsibilities handled: • Collects requirements from the production department and designs specifications and budget for the raw material.
• Day to day management of procurement operations, to ensure workload is being prioritized in the most efficient manner.

This study has exposed me to the fascinating field of wikinomics and its immense potential which can be capitalized by mass collaboration of people around the globe using Web 2.0. This online portal helps quick and secure identification, acquisition, development and sharing of explicit and tacit knowledge, thus benefiting individuals & organizations at micro level and society at macro level.
