1. Plan, organize, direct, and control all activities and services provided by the Pharmacy.
2. Chair Pharmacy departmental meetings.
3. Prepare and maintain all medication management policies & procedures.
4. Approval of work schedule of the department.
5. Participates in the membership of the Hospital wide committees.
6. Preparation and application of the training program and continuing education activities, and supervision.
7. Assesses the performance of Pharmacy staff and makes recommendations to do so.
8. Prepares the annual budget for the department.
9. Submits periodic reports and statistics to the Medical Director on the activities of the pharmacy.
10. Monitors the process of patient /family education in his/her department and ensure that all staff doing his/her role in the process.
11. Ensures that all patient rights are respected from department’s staff.
12. Monitors the application of QM plan within his/her department.
13. Monitors the applications the infection control guidelines within the pharmacy.
1. Develops / coordinates educational program to pharmacy staff in order to ensure adherence to departmental and hospital wide mission, vision, and values.
2. Coordinates the accreditation requirements and process.
3. Assists the head of pharmacy in the identification of specific department needs and areas for improvement..
4. Orients new pharmacy employees on pharmacy policies & procedures and standards.
5. Develops and conducts an orientation program for nursing staff to ensure the implementation and adherence to the CBAHI standards and MOH regulations regarding safe handling of medications.
6. Assists the head of pharmacy in developing and updating pharmacy policies & procedures and guidelines, in collaboration with Pharmacy & Therapeutic Committee members.
7. Develops Drug Use Review (DUR) program in collaboration with P&T Committee to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of recipient care.
8. Collects data from medication error reports, makes summarization, analysis, and recommends the appropriate plan of action to be discussed in the P &T Committee.
9. Develops and updates the hospital drug formulary in collaboration with P & T Committee.
10. Recognizes technical problems related to medications’ entry in the computer system, discusses them with IT department and recommends solutions as appropriate.
11. Ensures the accuracy of the process of adding new drugs in the computerized system in order to avoid medication error occurrence.
12. Complies with safety, security, and infection control hospital-wide policies and procedures.
13. Follows policy and procedure of OVR system.
