As a member of the IT planning and technical support team, I am responsible for designing and implementing technical solutions to new business requirements and to manage the IT infrastructure of the Kuwait International Bank. The realm of technologies includes server, storage and tape hardware, Operating Systems, High Availability (Cluster), Backup, Volume Manager and Monitoring & Management software.
As a member of Oracle's consulting group, I engage with organizations from industry verticals namely banking, retail, information technology, higher education and health care based at North America (USA and Canada) that includes obtaining a holistic view of their business; business drivers, concerns and requirements; understand their current functional and technological capabilities by interacting with concerned stakeholders. Design a solution that meets the objectives of the project and effectively deliver the solution to the stakeholders, which demonstrate the value and competitiveness.
Authorized professional from Sun Microsystems Inc. to conduct installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of Sun Servers and Storage Hardware, Operating System namely Sun Solaris and other software.
Responsibilities as Sun Field Engineer includes:-
Hardware installation and troubleshooting of Sun Entry level SPARC and Intel based servers; mid-range servers; a wide range of SAN and NAS storages as per Sun recommended EIS standards.
Upgrade of firmware for various controllers housed in servers, storage and SAN switches.
Installation, maintenance and error rectification of enterprise versions of Sun Solaris and Red Hat’s Linux (RHEL) Operating Systems.
Patch and package management in Sun Solaris and Red Hat’s Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
Installation of transceivers to SAN switches and FC-HBA to servers, creation and management of LUN, implementation of zoning and LUN masking, various administration and monitoring duties in SAN environments.
Implementation, administration and troubleshooting of high availability software namely Sun Cluster 3.x to maintain the least downtime of applications possible.
Security management and solve performance bottlenecks to provide safe and high performance business environments.
Responsible for the administration of Intel and AMD based 2000+ shared and dedicated servers, 500+ Virtual Private Servers (VPS) with Linux and Solaris Operating System used for web hosting purpose.
Responsibilities as a System Administrator includes:-
Install, maintain, and upgrade servers running various Linux and Solaris distributions.
Install, configure and troubleshoot services running in the server. The services include HTTP (Apache), DNS (Bind), FTP and MAIL (Exim)
Monitor and conduct preventive actions against Spamming, Hacking and Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks.
Conduct Security audits, Hardening of servers including upgrade of Linux kernel.
Monitor backups and restoration of domain accounts.
