Riyadh Metro Project line 1 and 2: The Riyadh Metro Project (RMP) comprises six Metro lines in the city of Riyadh, which are intended to form the backbone of the future Riyadh public transport network. The BACS Consortium is responsible for the delivery of Lines 1 and 2. Line 1 (Blue line): A north-south line along the Olaya-Batha Corridor, to extends over a length of approximately 38 Km and features 22 stations, in addition to 4 transfer stations. Line 2 (Red Line): An east-west line along King Abdullah Road, to extends over a length of approximately 22 Km and features 14 stations, in addition to 3 transfer stations.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare highway design from concept to detailed design stage for Riyadh Metro Project Line-1.
• Implement design comments from client and approving authority.
• Verify the survey by site visits and liaise with client for providing accurate survey.
• Quality check of drawings prepared by CAD drafters.
• Assist in preparing design documents.

October 2011 to Date (PICL Muscat, Oman)

Worked on two major projects from start to finish out of which one is:
i) Dualization of Adam - Thumrait Road Oman (US$2bn) is a new two-lane road to be constructed adjacent to existing road to form two-lane dual carriageway. Length of project road is 720 km starting from Adam and ending at Thumrait. It includes the design of 44 interchanges, 26 Camel Crossings, 55 Lay-bys, 8 Weigh Stations, 42 big water channel crossings and 12 Rest Areas.
The second project is:
ii) Upgrading of Junctions on Existing Batinah Highway Oman (US $1.6bn) is a four lane dual carriageway comprised of 24 interchanges, including single point urban interchange (SPUI), compressed diamond, elevated roundabout, split diamonds and vehicular underpasses.
• Alignment Study, preliminary and detailed design of horizontal and vertical alignment of main road, interchanges (ramps, bridges and roundabouts), junctions, service roads, cross-section, super elevation, pavement grading plans and pavement classification plans. Prepared and checked issued for construction drawings (IFC) according to the Parsons Quality Policy.
• Designed dumb-bell, split diamond and vehicular underpasses to AASHTO and Highway Design Standards (HDS) of Oman 2010.
• Developed TIN and contours from survey data using IN-ROADS software and designed vertical profile of proposed main road, interchange ramps and cross-roads, camel crossings and water channel crossings.
• Designed super-elevation for main carriageway, interchanges and service roads.
• Checked vertical clearance of interchange bridges from main carriageway and provided finished road levels to structural team for design of bridges.
• Developed proposed main road and interchange cross-section templates in IN-ROADS software and computed earthwork quantities.
• Prepared standard drawings for rest areas, lay-bys, emergency median opening, camel crossings and weigh stations along main road.
• Designed pedestrian crossings where main road traverses through urban areas.
• Provided guard rail and barriers at hazardous locations along the project road.
• Followed Parsons Quality procedures and checked drawings before submission.
• Associated with pavement design.
• Attended meetings with client, local authorities and other stakeholders. Collected and implemented their requirements and got design approvals at alignment study, preliminary and detailed design stages from client.
• Took the responsibility to finish the time critical projects and assigned tasks to junior engineers in order to distribute the work load. For better quality and production motivated and assisted junior engineers to improve geometric design skills and learn InRoads software.
• Liaised with utilities, structural, drainage and CAD departments to finalize the design.
• Accomplished the project with minimum input from design manager.

• OPF Housing Scheme in ICT Zone-V, Islamabad
The area comprised of 650 acres of broken land frequently bisected by deep gorges traversing in and around the project site. Working as project Engineer responsible for master planning, design of infrastructure services including road network with an overall length of 35 km. coordination with various development agencies, client, various working groups responsible for design of bridges, dam, landscaping, underground electrical system, sui gas, geotechnical works and topographical surveying. Prepared tender documents and bid evaluation report for the project. Cost of tendered work is till date Rs. 800 Million.
• Anchorage Islamabad Zone-V, Islamabad
The area comprised of 500 acres of undulating land with an elevation difference of 200 ft. forcing to adopt road gradient even up to 14% with an overall length of 37 Km road network. A comprehensive system of ducts was designed in collaboration with electrical engineers. An extensive coordination was required during the execution of underground electrical works and shop drawings were reviewed to ensure the safety and working of already laid services. A detailed design of ducting system was carried out for sui gas, electricity and telephone to accommodate infra-structure facilities to be laid later on during the execution.
• Air Weapon Complex
Worked on Master Planning of the project having area of 300 acres to accommodate industrial/commercial buildings of specific nature. The unique aspect was to designed sewerage system and road network of the project in anticipation of the future development not known till date for defense installations.
• Bahawalpur Institute of Advanced Technologies
The project area comprised of 2000 acres of land in desert area with sand dunes. Designed earthworks and roads only and worked as team member in design of road profiles, pavements and road cross sections.
• Federal Employees Cooperative Housing Scheme
Project area comprised of highly broken land resulting in excessive gradients of roads/streets up to 12%. Project covers an area of 175 acres with approximately 14 Km of road length and over head electrification.

• Preliminary and detailed design of road profiles and cross section for two industrial areas of Sharjah Alma 1 and Alma 2 and Defense Housing Authority using survey data and finalized the finished road levels.
• Prepared drawings and supervised six CAD drafters in perpetration of drawings from initial to final stage and achieved the targets within time lines.

• Designed infra-structure facilities of 2500 hectare area including geometric design of roads, cross section of roads and pavement design in coordination with town planners and according to standards.
• Prepared preliminary design studies and performed complex calculations.
• Researched & analyzed project design requirements.
• Designed road cross-sections to adjust services along the road.
• Prepared design models for longitudinal road profiles on Eagle Point & AutoCAD software and proposed finished road levels keeping in mind speed, storm drainage, sewerage and other services along the road. Calculated earthwork for cost preparation purpose.
• Handled design projects in various sorts of terrains i.e. plain and mountainous terrains.
• Assisted the senior engineers as a team, to carry out the projects according to the specifications and design standards.
• Prepared design submissions which included design reports and drawings according to bylaws of government authorities.
• Performed field checks of project sites to ensure smooth construction of my design work and reviewed design where required according to site situation.
• Supervised a group of five draftspersons.
