Obeikan Investment Group (OIG) is holding company of over twenty well-established companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia operating in diversified industries located across the Middle-East. The core focus of the group is manufacturing of paper, board and packing materials related products. In addition, it is also engaged in educational services, real estate and glass manufacturing industries.

I joined OIG Financial Reporting team as a Financial Analyst in April 2013. My primary responsibility is consolidation of financial statements monthly/annual, which includes subsidiaries, associates and joint ventures. Other duties assigned are as follows,
• Analysing financial performance of group companies on a monthly basis.
• Analysing sales performance of group companies.
• Assist the zakat consultants in compilation of annual zakat return.
• Other financial information to management required for decision making.

Textured Jersey (TJ) is renowned for the production of superior quality knit fabrics. TJ caters to a wider range of world finest brands such as Victoria's Secret, Marks and Spencer, Nike, Ann Tailor, FILA, etc. TJ is the largest fabric manufacturer in Sri Lanka with a turnover exceeding USD 100Mn per annum. The Company is also listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange.

I joined TJ Finance Division as an ERP Business Analyst in October 2011. At TJ I was responsible for assisting the ERP Business Controller in ensuring smooth functioning of MM (Material Management) and FI (Finance) modules of SAP. Providing critical support to project implementation teams in certain aspects of Finance, Costing, Material Management and Production Planning was also a significant part of my job role. Also I was responsible for working closely with SAP development teams to evaluate alignment of proposed solutions with business requirements.

Major projects carried out at TJ,
• Fixed Assets Register Re-set project
• Scrap Automation project

Other tasks performed,
• Process the month-end system runs - WIP, Forex and Depreciation
• Monitoring and analysis of daily raw material consumption
• Providing timely solutions for system related abnormalities in MM and FI module

Furthermore, during the latter part of my tenure at TJ, I was handling the significant part of Management Accountant’s role in which the following were performed,

• Preparation annual financial budget for the company,
• Preparation of financial reports for monthly management meeting
• Various other calculations/reports to ascertain the accuracy of RM cost in relation to closure of MM/FI modules of SAP on a monthly basis.

I joined PwC Assurance Division in April 2006 as a Trainee Accountant (associate IV) and progressively promoted up to Executive level. During the tenure at PwC I was engaged in providing audit services to my clients including local and multinational entities which are diversified into industries such as manufacturing, telecommunications, apparel, hotels, information technology and financial services which are summarised as follows;

Reporting to the partners and senior managers as an Executive, I was responsible for planning, supervising and the overall managing of engagements in the assigned client portfolio which is diversified into different industries. The portfolio includes clients reporting under Sri Lanka GAAP and also under IFRS.
The detailed description of work is as follows:

• Performing the initial risk assessment either at the time of accepting a new client or continuance risk assessment prior to continue with an existing client.

• Agreeing the reporting timelines, audit fees and resolving the audit issues with the client.

• Designing the audit strategy to achieve the required level of comfort in each financial statement area considering the risks identified.

• Review the client’s financial statements and annual reports for relevant disclosures as required by the applicable accounting standards, listing rules and other legislative requirements.

• Working as a career coach for an assigned set of junior staff and assist in development of their career.
