When i work in my work place my job responsibilities for serving food and assisting with catering duties at banquets, buffets and events. Their duties include assisting with food preparation in the kitchen, keeping buffets fully stocked with fresh dishes and clearing away dirty plates and cutlery.
Food and Beverage Assistant duties and responsibilities
Food and Beverage Assistants are primarily responsible for providing food and drink to guests. This can involve direct table service or it can involve topping up buffet selections with fresh food, serving guests in the buffet queue or working behind a bar mixing drinks. Their main duties and responsibilities include:
Setting up marquees, arranging tables and assisting with the preparation of event spaces
Greeting guests as they arrive at the venue, directing guests to tables, providing menus and taking orders
Delivering food from the kitchen to guests at the table or to a self-service area
Assisting Chefs by washing vegetables, assembling sandwiches, sourcing ingredients from the stock room or plating up dishes
Keeping any bar and drink service areas fully stocked with beverages
Taking drinks orders and serving drinks to guests at their table or throughout the venue
Opening wine bottles at the table and pouring drinks for guests
Wiping down tables and chairs, removing rubbish and clearing event spaces

Food and beverage serving and related workers typically do the following:

Greet customers and answer their questions about menu items and specials
Take food or drink orders from customers
Relay customers’ orders to other kitchen staff
Prepare food and drink orders, such as sandwiches, salads, and coffee
Accept payments and balance receipts
Serve food and drinks to customers at a counter, at a stand, or in a hotel room
Clean assigned work areas, dining tables, or serving counters
Replenish and stock service stations, cabinets, and tables
Set tables or prepare food trays for new customers
