• Proficiency in obstetrics (OB) and preparing the mother for birth and ensuring post-delivery care of the mother and child.
• Taking care of pre and post-operative patients and preparing them for discharge by advising on prescribed medication to be followed.
• Develop health plans for patient with chronic illness and disabilities.
• Detect health problems in early stage through regular screenings and checking the vitals.
• Keep track of patient's vaccination and health records.
• Ensure compliance with national and local health laws.
• Record patient's medical history, vital statistics and test results in electronic and physical medical charts.
• Perform initial patient assessments and work with physician to plan, implement and evaluate plans of care for patients of all ages; manage average caseload of 30 patients.
• Capable of working long hours with consistent precision. Excels in environments requiring teamwork, multi-tasking and strong communication skills. Calm and resourceful in high-pressure situations.
• Ensure ward environment is safe for patients and staffs (e.g. prevention of communicable diseases.)
• Observe patients and actualize nursing interventions to expedite healing and recovery after surgery.
• Utilize clinical expertise to remove sutures, administer medications, injections, IV therapy and test glucose levels. Perform venipuncture & provide wound care.
• Maintain confidential patient charts and medical files; successfully organized, updated and managed 5000+ patient charts.
• Provide comprehensive instruction to patients and caregivers on discharge plans to sustain continuity of care upon discharge and drive recovery goals.
• Precept student nurses and new hires on unit and hospital policies, clinical skills and direct patient care.
