• Coordinating the installation of network equipment at customer premises or at core network nodes.
• Prepare and manage project plans and implementation schedules/budgets using MS Project.
• Managing operations teams, vendors and external contractors during project execution.
• Establishing efficient and effective communication channels with all shareholders. Hold meetings with all stakeholders on project status.
• Generating all required project reports for distribution to the customer and stakeholders.
• Assist in equipment procurement, providing invoicing details according to set milestones.
• Performing quality checks and ensuring quality standards are adhered. Escalating project issues on time.
• Negotiating contracts with vendors and upstream providers.
I• Transitioning new and changed services into operations. Network change management via change control processes and documentation.
• Configuring VRF-lite for MPLS clients on Vodacom’s Edge PE routers, access switches and client’s edge routers. Troubleshooting and ensuring end-to-end connectivity on IPL circuits for international clients and resellers such as PCCW, Verizon, Cable and Wires(C&W).
• 3nd tier escalation point for intrinsic troubleshooting of network switching and routing issues, clients’ service incidents, packet transmission faults.
• Liaising with upstream providers - international leased circuits, in-country fiber providers, contractors and shelter providers for billings, credit and circuit parameters reconciliation. Ensuring quality standards conforms to ISO standards.
• Monitoring and ensuring that the team’s assigned tasks and activities are carried out effectively and promptly. Ensuring proper documentation and tracking of all changes on the network. Adherence to project plans, scope and budget updating and escalating project risk to all relevant stakeholders during project execution.
• Following up with the Project Management Office on installation change issues responsible for delays in project execution. Preparing weekly and monthly status reports of assigned projects and highlight reports based on request.
• Scrutinizing change control documents for errors and advising on design feasibility on the core network.
Proactive management of network nodes, transmission links and clients circuits on Vodacom Business Africas network.
Microwave SDH/DWDM/Optics fiber transmission network (SAF, Cambridge Broadband Wireless Access, ECI and Alcatel multiplexes) Monitoring and troubleshooting network and data-layer related outages. Escalating fiber providers related outages and coordinating field engineers deployment to resolve physical layer related outages. Efficient and timely resolution of issues to ensure that network availability remains within set KPIs.
IP Routing and switching (MPLS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP and RIP protocols) Core MPLS network management, integration, troubleshooting of core, distribution and access links. Measuring, Benchmarking and monitoring capacity utilization issues on core links and equipment
VSAT (iDirect & SCPC - Comtech, Paradise series) Integrate remotes on the hub and implement change request as stipulated in the change control document. Benchmarking and troubleshooting VSAT hub related issues with the Satellite providers and TAC teams.
Proper documentation of integrated circuits, circuit diagrams, commissioning values and network changes. Ensuring fault tickets are updated and closed appropriately. Generating monthly reports on service availability for clients and highlight reports for Management.
- Real-time monitoring, proactive fault detection and troubleshooting of circuits on the MPLS cloud, microwave radios links, VSAT and fiber networks.
- Integration of circuits and ensuring commissioning tests meets compliance values.
- Proper documentation of integrated circuit, circuit diagrams, commissioning values and network changes.
- Implementation of change requests as stipulated in change control documents.
- Monthly reports on service availability and performance reports.
- Routine maintenance on network nodes and supervision of scheduled providers' maintenance.
