Job Description:
1. Advise the project in charge of any technical aspects of the mechanical services that may affect construction progress, e.g. quality or snagging.
2. Continually review the contractor’s construction schedule during the progress of site works with regards to MEP services and report to the project in charge on the same.
3. Manage the day to day work of the MEP team.
4. In conjunction with the document controller, ensure that the filing/logging of the MEP documentation is undertaken in line with the project handbook and continually monitor the same.
5. Advise on all issues regarding SAFETY and ensure that the appropriate documentation and information is provided to the appropriate authorities to obtain the SAFETY standard required on the project.
6. Take part in risk workshops and report any risks associated with MEP installations or general project to the project in charge.
7. Review Contractor’s installation method statements.
8. Review Contractor’s drawings against the design drawings for compliance with the design intent.
9. Where required prepare technical clarifications to the tendered design to suit specific on-site construction and co-ordination issues.
10. Review Contractor’s MEP services material proposals against specified technical performance requirements and advise the project in charge on the appropriateness of the proposals.
11. Review Contractor’s proposed sub-contractor(s) associated with the engineering works from a technical standpoint.
12. Undertake general project site observation / inspection of the MEP services works for Contractor’s adherence to the approved shop drawings and Consultant’s specification, good working practices and construction schedule.
13. Monitor and promote health and safety on the site. Record and report any breaches to the project in charge. If required stop the construction works if unsafe practices are being followed.
14. Be available to undertake off-site inspections of proposed equipment and materials as may be deemed necessary by the project in charge.
15. Undertake prior review of Contractor’s proposed MEP system testing & commissioning methods and schedule.
16. Witness on-site piped system pressure test, air conditioning duct leakage testing and other testing that may be required during the first fix works and advise the project in charge accordingly.
17. On a spot basis, witness MEP system final testing and commissioning.
18. Review and comment on Contractor’s testing and commissioning results and advice the project in charge accordingly.
19. Maintain on-going list of MEP services defects for contractor’s remedial action.
20. Undertake final project snagging and prepare list of defects for Contractor’s action.
21. Attend project, site progress and any MEP services related technical meetings as directed by the project in charge.
22. Prepare draft site / inspector’s instructions, relating to the building MEP services, as required and issue to the project in charge.
23. Provide advice to the project in charge in regard to any mechanical services related variation costs that may be claimed by the Contractor during the course of the works.
24. Review and comment upon the Contractor’s Operation and Maintenance manuals.
25. Attend project progress meetings.
26. Chair MEP design core team meetings, as required.
27. Attend the site staff internal meetings to resolve specific site problems as required to minimize program delays.
28. Advise on long lead MEP items that may affect progress of the works.
29. Prepare the MEP site section of the project in charge monthly progress report.
30. Monitor quality of the Contractor’s construction installations.
