Highlands Ethanol, LLC, proposed to build and operate in Highlands County, Florida a 36 million gallons per year (GPY) fuel-grade cellulosic ethanol production facility using energy cane and high-biomass sorghum as feedstocks during an operating period of 8, 000 hours. The process systems with nutrient supply systems; ethanol distillation, dehydration, and storage; wastewater treatment with solids handling; and an energy island with steam and power generation. Located in Highlands County, Florida, it was to be the first commercial scale production plant to utilize a new biochemical technology developed to cellulosic material of various feed stocks via fermentation into ethanol.

Lead a team of 23 members to carry out MTO estimate through modularisation concept. The MTO was to be taken out from SP3D model once the initial routing of the lines were placed in the model. All areas equipment arrangement drawings were developed in autocad, discussed in detail over biweekly telecon with CH2MHILL Houston office along with BP group sitting there, before the same was modeled in SP3D. One Procurement & Construction expat ( Jacobs ) was stationed in Gurgaon, for their view of modularisation and MTO before the final MTO was turned over to Houston, for submitting to BP. The project was stopped for shortage of fund in US but was continued for building the unit in an existing plant in Brasil. All lines 4" and above were routed at FEED stage and in some areas where lines sizes were small, lines upto 3/4"were also routed in autocad. Visited site and home office in Doha for collection of tie-in inputs and also commencement of value engineering post MTO submission at the FEED stage. Detailed value engineering was carried out in Gurgaon office based on which project cost was reduced substantially to make the project economically fusible. The initial MTO was revised taking value engineering input into consideration, which resulted in reduced cost of project.
SWS, TGTU and Sulphur storage area of SRU Bina for BORL. Project consisted of 2 trends of sulphur block ( under AKPG scope ) sulphur pit & storage, SWS, TGTU & ARU. The project was the first India project in PDMS in the organisation. This was a joint effort with AKPG, Mumbai for PLL which was the EPC

Overall responsibility of design, PDMS modelling, MTO, support modelling, isometric generation, stress analysis having a team strength of 40 at peak. Responsible for planning, scheduling, progress measurement, monitoring, raising change order, Design review, model review, coordination between different offices etc. This project had also continuous/discontinuous jacketing along with steam jacketed lines. The sulphur storage included solid sulphur deposition in sulphur yard, and molten sulphur loading into a jacketed truck through jacketed loading arm. The molten sulphur lines from the two storage tanks, were always charged/circulating, even in absence of truck loading, to prevent it from coagulation/solidization of stagnant molten sulphur. Molten sulphur transportation through mobile truck was done only second time in India, after BPCL, Mahul refinery in Mumbai.
