-Implement proper Quality Control techniques for the test methods
-Prepare, review, maintain and updating of Quality Control chart (Shewart chart), Range charts, spike control charts etc.
-Responsible for QA and QC of chemistry test methods and microbiology test methods of water and waste water
-Hands on experience in the analysis of various parameters in water, waste water, Soil & sludge.
-Test performed includes : Water - Solids (TSS, TS, TDS, TVS), BOD, COD, Oil & Grease, Ammonia, Phosphates, Silica, Color, Nitrate, Nitrite, Hardness, Sulphate, Specific Gravity, pH, Conductivity, Salinity, Cyanide, Fluoride, Phenol, TPH, Organic Nitrogen, Kjeldahl Nitrogen, Metals (Trace elements & other major cations), Alkalinity, Acidity, Carbon Dioxide, Chlorides, Suphides, Free Chlorine, Total chlorine, Oxygen Consumption Rate, Turbidity, Floatables
Soil - Determination of pH, Conductivity, Nitrate, Phosphate, Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, magnesium, Cation Exchange Capaccity, Sodium Absorption Ratio, Exchangeable sodium percentage, Sulphates, micro nutrients (copper, iron, manganese, Zinc), Organic Matter, Free lime.
-Knowledge of Microbiology Test Methods such as determination of Total Coliforms, Faecal Coliforms, Total Bacteria Count, Enterococcus, Salmonella. Also experience of having done microscopic observation of activated sludge.
-Responsible for identifying and issue of Non conformances- investigation and implementation of appropriate corrective and preventive actions
-Customer complaint investigation and corrective action
-Prepare, review and updation of laboratory test methods and standard operating procedures

-Responsible for identifying and customization of available options in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to improve the laboratory functions.
-Perform Uncertainty estimate for the test methods
-Plan and perform external proficiency testing for the laboratory with agents in UK (Aquacheck, FAPAS, HPA, RTC) and US (RTC, Absolute Standards)
-Analysis of Z-score trends and failures in the external proficiency testing schemes
-Ordering of Standards and Chemicals essential for day to day laboratory operations
-Responsible for feasibility study as well as implementation of new test methods.
-Experience in handling equipments namely ICP-OES (Horiba Jobin Yvon), AAS (Perkin Elmer), UV-VIS Spectrophotometer (HACH DR 4000 & 6000), Ion chromatography (Metrohm), Gerhardt and Buchi distillation and titration system for ammonia determination, Horiba Oil & Grease/ TPH analyzer, Ion selective electrode determinations, DO meter (Orion), microbiology colony counter (Stuart), Turbidity meter (Hanna), pH & Conductivity meter (Hanna & Hach).
-ASTM, UOP and IP methods of analysis of finished petroleum products viz; LPG, naphtha, gasoline, benzene, toluene, special boiling point spirit, kerosene, diesel, aviation turbine fuels, fuel oil, LSHS, bitumen, bitumen emulsion, rubberized bitumen, poly isobutene etc.
-Analysis of intermediate streams/cuts of the refining process. Mainly includes samples from primary crude distillation units, Feed preparation units, FCCU, Reformer unit, Naphtha splitter units, DHDS, KHDS, ARU, SRU.
-Some of the test performed includes: API gravity, Reid vapour pressure, ASTM distillation, colour, flash point (Abel, Pensky Martens, Cleveland open cup), cloud and pour point, viscosity, ash content, carbon residue, motor octane number & research octane number, gum content, water separometer index, calorific value, sulphur, copper corrosion, jet fuel thermal oxidation test (JFTOT), naphthalene content, smoke point, char value, electrical conductivity, fluorescent indicator adsorption method, acidity, softening point, penetration, ductility, asphaltene content, analysis of metal content of petroleum products by AAS, Diesel lubricity (HFRR), Lubricity of aviation fuels (BOCLE), etc
-ASTM, UOP and IP methods of characterization and evaluation of crude oils viz; characterization, TBP distillation, specific gravity, pour point, viscosity, vapor pressure, sulphur, and nitrogen content, salt content, bottom sediments, acid number, etc
-Analysis of reformer catalyst and LOCAT.
-Analysis of gas samples (acid gas, reformer gases, fuel gas) for its composition.
-Perform intermediate checks of tested products as well as standards as part of the laboratory QA & C measures
-Analysis of suspect samples collected by excise, police and other legal entities
-Analysis of external proficiency test samples/standards as part of the inter-laboratory comparison
-Waste water analysis (PH, sulphide, phenol, oil & grease, BOD, total suspended solids, etc., and knowledge about the waste water treatment processes in the refineries.
-Analysis of water from DM plant, cooling towers and other refinery units for various parameters using spectrophotometer (HACH) and Ion Chromatography (Metrohm) and other wet chemistry techniques.
