Started as a Pre-Sales systems engineer that involved product research, proposal preparation and customers Request-for-Quotations (RFQs) technical evaluation. Responsible for technical knowledge of Sun hardware and software products.

Saudi Aramco Sun Microsystems Project
Later on deployed as Resident Engineer with Sun Microsystems Strategic Support Team based in Saudi ARAMCO sites. Major responsibilities included installation, configuration, maintenance and upgradation of Sun Fire V120, V210, V240, V440, V480, V880, 220R, 280R, Netra T1, Sun Enterprise 4500, Sun Fire 6800, Sun Fire 15K and Sun Fire E25K.

Technical Expertise
• Provide post-sales maintenance support on Sun servers and Solaris operating system at customer locations.
• Perform preventive and proactive support on Sun Servers by analyzing Solaris logs, statistics and explorer data.
• Escalation and case management of complex issues for quick resolutions.
• Perform after hours standby duties on weekdays and 24/7 during the weekends on rotational basis for Saudi Aramco Sites.
• Troubleshooting of Solaris operating system
• Troubleshooting up to the hardware intervention of Field Replaceable Units (FRUs)
• Sun fire 15K or E25K installation, diagnostics and hardware troubleshooting with the use of Solaris administration/tools
• Participated in the major activity of upgrade of a number of Sun Fire 15K to Sun Fire E25K for Saudi Aramco
• Significant experience with Solaris OS, Packages and Patches, SPARC Open Boot PROM configuration
• Responsible for upgrades, commission, decommission and relocation of the servers and storage devices.
• Strong Internet and Intranet background including most common IP protocols such as TCP, UDP, NFS, HTTP, NTP, SNMP etc.
• Familiarity with physical network configuration including Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, ATM, DSL, ISDN etc.
• Package/Patch administration and upgrading OBP levels of Sun/Oracle servers.
• Strong Architectural knowledge of sun hardware products from workstations to high-end servers.
• Engage with customer in site planning and space evaluations to meet proper space/power requirements.
• Running diagnostics and performing hardware maintenance of Sun StorEdge T3/T3+, 3120 and StorEdge 9000 series
• Adding and configuring new hardware in Sun/oracle servers
• Root disk mirroring and replacing failed disk using volume manager

Assisted as a system engineer in a Microsoft operating environment and was involved in activities like Remote Access Services (RAS) on multiple Windows NT Servers to allow remote users to retrieve information such as emails and files. Installed pcANYWHERE32 8.0 on Windows NT Servers for low-cost remote administration.

Handled information systems related issues such as software, hardware, Internet access, and helpdesk. Implemented and maintained Exchange, Proxy and IIS servers. Provided end-user support in a Microsoft Windows 2000 environment. Dealt with Internet related issues such as IP addresses and being the contact person for the ISP.
