Roles & Responsibilities:
•Studied building plans and inspected structures to assess material and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring.
•Installed pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers and water heaters, and fixtures such as sinks and toilets, using hand and power tools.
•Installed underground storm, sanitary and water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to these systems.
•Located and marked the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels.
•Measured, cut, threaded, and bent pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.
•Assembled pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
•Repaired and maintained plumbing, replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes, and opening clogged drains.
•Filled pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observed pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
•Maintain and repair general plumbing components to include toilets, urinals, faucets, hose bibs, and drains.
•Install, repair, or replace domestic hot and cold water lines.
•Repair and replace steam to hot water exchangers for major building heating systems and pools.
•Repair and replace pneumatic steam valves, radiator valves, traps, and steam and condensate pipes.
•Repair and replace domestic hot water heat pumps, chilled water pumps, sump pumps, and sewage pumps.
•Install, test, and repair all sizes of backflow prevention devices.
•Lead troubleshooting efforts and repair steam, water, and gas distribution systems.
•Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
•Provide sketches and dimensions used by drafters to create plans for subcontractor work.
•Research catalogs and vendor services for complex and/or customized system retrofits.
•Interpret and apply mechanical and structural blueprints to plan plumbing repairs and modifications.
•Constructing and repairing various metal parts by welding them together.
•Installing Equipment and pipes such as lead pipes, valves and tank linings.
•Accurately examining and measuring work pieces for defects etc..
•Measuring work pieces with straightedges to ensure correct specification.
•Preheating pipes and work pieces, using hand torch.
•Constantly monitoring the fitting, burning and welding processes.
•Removing rough spot or loose metal from work pieces.
