Plan, organize and manage construction of projects for one of the largest external works and landscape contractor in the region. Responsibilities include design review and analysis of project, preparation of construction documents, negotiations, subcontractor selection, material purchasing, scheduling, project budget, specification and code compliance, project development, quality control and certification of occupancy. Supervise crews of up to 1000 trade workers.
KEY PROJECTS AND SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
• Completed AED 60 Million Reem Development Phase 1 projects (3 packages) within time and 5% under budget. The Project included Streetscape for the Loop Road including water features and community entrance features, community landscape for 2 communities and design and build package of 5 community parks including Pools, changing room, multipurpose sports courts, boundary walls including all elements.
• Oversaw the landscaping works to The Address Boulevard Hotel with a value of AED 30 Million (2 packages). Completed within time and budget despite delays due to extensive design changes and area release.
• Managed the reconstruction of landscaping works to The Address Downtown Hotel with a value of AED 11 Million. Increased project value from original AED 6 million by undertaking additional works. As being a reconstruction project due to a fire accident, the project involved extensive condition surveys of existing works and demolition works due to changes from existing design. Also involved in the bidding process of the project and saved my employer approximately AED 500, 000/- in costs by negotiating cranage exclusion and additional costs for multiple handling due to lack of onsite laydown areas. Works completed on time and 15% under budget despite design and area release delays.
• Other key projects handled included:
o The Four Seasons Resort, Jumeirah Beach
o Bay Avenue, Business Bay
o Town Square community parks (involvement limited to development in accordance with client brief and obtaining client approval and coordinating authority approvals for construction)
Plan, organize and manage construction of projects for one of the largest specialist contractor in the region involved in construction of water bodies, landscaping, sports and traffic surfacing, equestrian facilities, concrete repairs, infrastructure works, etc. Responsibilities include design review and analysis of project, preparation of construction documents, negotiations, subcontractor selection, material purchasing, scheduling, project budget, specification and code compliance, project development, quality control until certification of occupancy. In addition, managed and developed 2 independent business units - Landscaping and Equestrian. Supervise crews of up to 600 trade workers.
KEY PROJECTS AND SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
• Managed the landscape development of Victory Grounds for client Le Meridien Mina Seyahi including Hard and Soft Landscaping, pools, Water features, Waste water treatment plant construction, construction of changing rooms, etc. with a value of AED 20 Million. Completed project within time and with a 9% improvement in profit margin.
• Successfully completed AED 35 Million Desert Majlis Project on Jebel Ali Hatta Road. The project consisted of construction of a 26, 000 sq.ft. Majlis with an Indoor Swimming Pool, Interior works, Hard and Soft Landscaping works in a 10 acre plot.
• Managed the construction of Pools and Water features at Burj Khalifa Tower. Recommended and constructed freeform shape Spa pools at level 43 & 76 using an alternative construction method using pneumatically applied concrete. Construction with conventional concrete and formwork would have been extremely difficult if not impossible due to the volume of piping and embedded fittings within the spa pools.
• Completed AED 100 Million Barari Development project which included construction of Pools, water features, Plant rooms, hard landscaping and minor soft landscape works. Project was completed within budget despite project timeline being stretched based on client request due to economic downtown in 2008 / 2009. Integrated the construction of the balancing tank as part of the swimming pool structure resulting in significant savings in costs in terms of construction, piping and fittings.
• Established the Equestrian and Soft landscape divisions. Negotiated agency agreements with overseas principals. Within 4 years increased contributions from these divisions to company turnover from less than 1% to 5% with significantly higher gross profit margins than other divisions.
• Undertook concrete repairs of Al Futtaim Tower in Diera and Administration Building at The Ruler’s Office which improved the life of the buildings by at least 10 years earning the client significant returns on investments.
