I joined the British Centres for Business as a Trade Manager in April 2015 and was promoted to Head of Consumer & Retail in September 2017. I've increased our sector consultancy services revenue more than 3 times since 2015.
- I worked with the Department of International Trade (DIT) team based out of the British Embassy Dubai.
- I advised UK companies wishing to export or set up in the UAE.
- I led on the automotive sector advising companies wishing to export to the UAE.
- I also supported the UKTI High Value Opportunities programme, particularly on opportunities in the airports and aviation sectors.
I worked as a freelance research and translator (from English to Urdu) for Oxford University's Free Speech Debate project, headed by Dr Timothy Garton Ash.
- Shaped and implemented the Oxfam GB Conflict campaign strategy, particularly for Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Coordinated with colleagues across multiple departments (interactive campaigning, media and celebrity liaison, policy, southern campaigning), and countries, to ensure a strong online and offline campaign.
- Developed cost-effective campaigning activities to achieve political change.
- Contributed to monitoring and evaluation and internal communication of the campaign.
- Supported and developed international alliances to further the impact of campaigning on conflict issues
- Led on campaign planning, budgeting, execution and evaluation for campaigning on Afghanistan.
- Managed a new project to set up an online bookshop on Amazon (in addition to Oxfams website and eBay) through specialist software
- Recruited and trained volunteers for the project
- Attended Oxfam's Online Shop Conference 2010
- Received training on relief work, leadership skills, media, fundraising and campaigning as part of the Act Global Project to send young Muslims abroad on relief work deployments
- Deployment in Pakistan in July 2009 at the camps for internally displaced people (IDPs) providing water purification equipment and supplies
- Trained local relief workers and IDPs, particularly women, on the use of the equipment and supplies
- Following the deployment, campaigned and fundraised on water issues jointly with WaterAid
FLP is a youth led initiative committed to providing leadership, mentorship and networking opportunities to students and young professionals contributing to sustainable development in Pakistan.
- FLP member since 2003worked for various projects and fundraising initiatives
- Managed the Executive Committee responsible for core activities, policy planning, budgeting, project management, human resources, knowledge management and strategic campaigning
- Managed a team to launch Parliament Watch (www.pw.org.pk), an awareness project, to provide information and opinion on the candidates of the Pakistan Elections 2008
- Introduced mentorship programme linking experts with young people
- Managed the charitys runners for B10K London run 2009
- Promoted AYPs CRB Disclosure application service to other charities and groups working with vulnerable people
- Represented the charity at Harrow Councils event for voluntary organisations
- Managed projects (including budgets) in the Energy & Environment unit at the Country Office
- Organized and coordinated quarterly meetings of the Environment Donors Coordination Group (World Bank, USAid, IUCN, WWF etc) of the environment sector
- Represented UNDP in Project Steering Committee meetings and observed Board of Governors meetings of projects
- Participated in meetings with the Minister for Environment and other government high ranking officials
- Participated in a 10-day mission to the Northern Areas to assist an international team in community meetings and evaluations to design the follow-up phase of the Mountain Areas Conservation Programme funded by Global Environment Facility (GEF) and UNDP
