My most number of Sales experience was acquired during my 22 years with Ergo Group of Companies (named first as Ergo Systems Phils-to Summit Furnishings Phils. and finally as Ergo Contract Phils., Inc.). It employs over 300 staffs and workers both in their office and manufacturing facilities. It has subsidiaries in Singapore, Malaysia and USA.
I practically followed a ladder of position upgrades in the company, from Senior Account Executive, to Account Manager, then after 5 years I was promoted to Sales Manager and eventually a Group Sales Manager. I had worked in a multi-tasking workplace for so long and often under-pressure to go after hitting the Sales figures- which I considered already a part of my work system.
I also acquired the skill of training new Sales Executives also through my actual sales experiences
and seminars attended. It was my specific task as Sales Manager to equip my new Account Executives with sound product knowledge and customer handling techniques before they are out to go on field. Foremost result expected of me as Sales Manager was -to see to it that the individual Executives under my team is hitting targets. One way of validating is the regular quarterly evaluation and performance rating. Through this system, an appropriate incentive upon hitting quotas are given to respective performers. For those not performing, a warning memo is issued-so to put their focus back in doing their expected task- to hit their sales targets.
And lastly, I was most accountable to the management of the sales performance on a monthly basis. This is where the under-pressure comes- when Sales have to be aligned with the company expected Sales targets. I would say-I have experienced the highest crisis ever in my sales career but resiliency is inevitable-and selling techniques in order to boost sales figures is immediately applied to its maximum.
I finished BS Fisheries in Aquaculture (a 4-year course) however my interest after graduation was focused on Sales which happened to be my passion since I was little. I never had difficulty in pursuing the selling career instead of Sciences field- because I enjoyed selling anything the most. I acquired 25 years of experience basically Selling products and services and I just don't have any regret of not having to exposed in the field of Science .
