  • Greece

Consolidation Services. I am part of a team that created and promoted a service with success that consolidated part cargoes in to Full Truck loads at the port of Thessaloniki and with final destination central European countries such as Slovakia, Czech Republic Hungary and north Serbia. This service managed to cut in half the original transit time from the Far East to these countries by half by utilizing the port of Thessaloniki and not having to go via Hamburg.

Sales Department Account Manager - Freight Forwarding at DelmaR Thessaloniki Shipping Company
  • Greece
  • January 2005 to February 2010

Agent of China Shipping Container Lines
My primary responsibility was to oversee the progress of the sales department personnel and to ensure that they have the right tools in order to achieve more sales and with more profit per sale for our employers.
I was making sure that the sales people would have freight offers by all major shipping lines, per destination or per origin port, as well as any credit time offered by the shipping lines and their transit times so that they could focus mostly on making new clients and serving the existing as efficiently as possible.
i was contacting hauliers for export or import cargoes to and from all countries of the European Continent for FTL and LTL and for LCL and FCL door deliveries. Trucks had to be duly insured and certified.
I had my own accounts and I was of course managing them by myself. My clients were general cargo traders, individuals who needed their personal effects to be transported or commodity traders. Some of the commodities I transported include:
Containerised Goods:
Marble blocks, Limestone, Marble Slabs, Paper scrap, Aluminium scrap, Iron and Copper scrap, plastic scrap, electronic home appliances and processed food like conserved fruit such as peaches and other fruits in cans as well as olives and olive oil.
Truck transported goods included all the above commodities as well as goods needing a temperature regime such as fresh fruits and vegetables such as peaches, kiwis, oranges, mandarins, grapes and other vegetables and fruits.
Furthermore I was procuring for inland haulage for all the export and import containers towards other countries of the Balkans such as Bulgaria, Serbia and Albania and Kosovo. In the years of the Yugoslavian war I was making deliveries of import containers towards Kosovo on behalf of the Peacekeeping force of the United Nations and NATO troops which mostly included ammunitions, food and clothing used by the U.N. and the KFOR.

Marketing - Sales Assistant - Freight Forwarding at Gulf Agency Company Thessaloniki Branch office (GAC Shipping S.A.)
  • Greece
  • May 2003 to December 2005

Date Of Employment: May 2003 -December 2005
Industry Category: Transportation/Logistics.
Position: Marketing - Sales Assistant - Freight Forwarding.

My main responsibility was the establishment of the newly introduced intra-European service of Hatsu Marine Inc. in the market of Thessaloniki which included the adjacent areas of West Bulgaria, South Serbia, Kosovo and Albania. This task welded me to what I am today, motivated, success focused, target orientated and problem solver. Having to introduce a new service in an already competing market with names such as Hapag Lloyd, MSC, MAERSK, CMA-CGM, I had to work hard in analysing the market needs and demands and constantly liaise with my managers in Piraeus Greece and Shipping Line headquarters in London UK so as to claim the share of the market that we set out to claim. My responsibilities were including the daily liaising with clients in order to inform them with regard to their shipment’s status and making cold calls in order to attract new ones.
Furthermore I was cooperating with the company colleagues in order to arrange the invoicing and the door deliveries of the import containers as well as to arrange the export formalities and customs formalities of the export containers.
