Senior Systens Analyst at TNT Express
  • United Kingdom
  • January 2011 to December 2011

Senior Systens Analyst

Working primarily as Senior System Analyst with two teams of developers for two main projects, LFDL and LDL.

LFDL (Legacy Financial Data Load) is ETL (Extract Transform & Load) process, primarily it is developed using Java Spring Batch, and works on a number of different platforms. The legacy data is extracted from legacy systems, which are As400 and Mainframe machines, using Control-M, this initiate's the spring Batch job, which transforms the data by interfacing with another in house java application Legacy Translator and loads it into the new Common System tables onto a Linux machine. I was the Senior Analyst on the project and successfully developed the project to production release version 1.4, liaising with the TA and a development team based in Mauritius.

LDL (Legacy Data Load) is transactional process using XML messages, using Broker and MQ. I was the Senior Analyst for the development of the LDL process for Italy. Transactional information for consignments is sent in the form of XML messages from the AS400, these are then filtered using a set of complex rules and loaded into the appropriate tables on a Linux machine for use by the new suite of Common System application.

During my time TNT Express I was also responsible for redesigning and porting the WIKI for Cross Functional and Integration onto the internet. I was the Super User for the replacement Service Desk application HP's Service Now.

One of the other projects I was responsible for was using Sparxx Systems data modelling tool for UML Enterprise Architect to model all the existing Cross Functional systems.

Senior Analyst Programmer at P&O Ferrymasters
  • United Kingdom
  • November 2000 to May 2009

Senior Analyst Programmer

P&O Ferrymasters initially had two Transport and Logistic systems, a Full load system (AS400) and a Part-Load Powerbuilder System (Pc)

Powerbuilder Systems worked on: Orders Planning
Administration Invoicing
Operations MIS
Services Customer Information

AS400 Systems worked on: Invoicing, interface to COIN, CODA Interfaces, EDI orders, sub-systems
Orders, Transport planning, RCN's MIS
Transport, Collection and Delivery planning Archive
Route Scheduling and Tolls, Equipment control Administrator on MKS Change Management

The MIS (Management Information System) on both platforms and ARCHIVE subsystem on AS400 required extensive analysis and interpretation of data from multiple databases & files to create reports and tables and present these in a number of different formats and views.

Along with development, documentation was produced to model the system and business processes. Project managed the integration and implementation of the DPS route scheduling software into Transport and Logistic System.

These systems were replaced by a new integrated Transport and Logistic System with a GUI front end; initially there was a requirement to replicate the master and transaction data from the DB2 system to the Sybase system.
This was achieved using Store Procedures.

Development in these systems was done in Powerbuilder, SQL and T-SQL on the Pc system and Synon 2E, DB2 Sql and T-SQL on the AS400 platform. The new system was a 3-tier application with a GUI front end, EA-server middle tier and a Sybase ASE database backend.
