•Provides general nursing care to patients in health care facility.
•Observes patients on a regular basis and charts symptoms and progress.
•Report changes and concerns to physicians and specialists.
•Draws blood, check vital signs, monitor blood pressure, temperature and pulse, and ensure that IV lines are maintained.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
•Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatments and examinations of patients.
•Ensures that a patient is prepared to recover at home.
•Checks symptoms, administer medication and provide written precautions for patients.
•Instructs patients and caretakers on how to take medication and perform minor medical procedures, such as in-home therapy for recovery.
•May serve as leader for group of personnel rendering nursing care to number of patients.
1.Tracks patients' vital signs during operations and supervise the others in the room, including surgical technologists and medical assistants. After a procedure, operating room nurses, monitor patients for signs of complications and provide education to patients and their families about the recovery process.
2.Responsible for staying with the mother when labor begins and supporting the mother through a healthy delivery.
Monitors the fetus and mother, counting contractions as they come.
Performs the first vaginal examination for the mother.
Helps the mother breathe her way through complicated contractions.
Administers IVs to the mother and preps her for a cesarean section if necessary.
Takes care of the baby right after delivery.
Takes the Apgar score of the newborn and records birth weight, applies identification bands to newborns and supplies the mother and baby with medications post-delivery.
Helps the mother if she shows signs of postpartum depression.
